It’s a MESS, but we created a way to keep up

 

I want to tell you about what might be the single most corrupt District Attorney's office in all of America.

I want to tell you not only about the office and its leaders, but why it matters to you in any city, county, or state across America — because if it can happen in this city, it probably is also happening in yours and we just don't have the details yet.

Before I get into it, we created a new site to give you even more details about the corrupt situation in the San Francisco DA’s office. Check it out now, then read the rest of this email, OK?

San Francisco is almost completely controlled by people that identify as Democrats, liberals, progressives, and the city undoubtedly leans left. What that means is that when there is corruption that you can't blame on Republicans, you might be able to blame it on conservative donors or conservative Democrats.

But right now, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office is being run by someone who was funded by rich hedge-fund owners, tech bros, and conservatives.

Let’s rewind for a second to figure out how we got here.

The democratically elected district attorney of San Francisco, a friend who I respect, trust, and think is one of the most brilliant minds in America, Chesa Boudin, was ousted by a recall.

That recall was led in part by a woman named Brooke Jenkins who ironically was actually under investigation by the DA's office when she stepped down to work on the recall effort.

During her entire time campaigning for the recall, she presented herself as a volunteer — but it recently came out that she actually made HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in the campaign to remove Chesa.

And none of it was registered as a campaign finance expense.

She was paid all that to campaign for the recall, and then the mayor of San Francisco, who also subtly wanted Chesa to be removed from office, appointed Brooke as the new DA.

It's something so blatantly corrupt. I've never seen that happen before in my life.

Somebody that profited off of Chesa being recalled financially gained from it, then is given the position without ever being elected by the people AND received hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process.

And when she was given the position she began firing almost all of the effective prosecutors and attorneys from the office including the prosecutors that were hired to prosecute police, to oversee wrongful convictions, to oversee victims services, and more.

She began dismantling any of the righteous work that was happening in the department under Chesa.

Watching her now, I can't believe how incompetent she is and how horrible she is on policies. She came in there basically to be the spokesperson for mass incarceration and to protect police.

The people she is now hiring are corrupt prosecutors who have been cited for prosecutorial misconduct in office and ones that the city council voted against, saying that they could not and would not ever hold police accountable.

To be frank, it’s a MESS. So, to keep up with everything happening, and to hold Brooke accountable for every move she makes as the DA, we have created a new website that we will keep updated.
