BREAKING: Recall fails to meet required signature threshold

Yesterday, the effort to reverse our movement by removing me from office failed for a second time in as many years. The L.A County Clerk’s Office announced that the recall committee failed to turn in enough valid signatures.

Obviously, this is good news for all of us that care about reform. And I’m glad we all get to move past this latest attempted political power grab.

But I also understand that there is far more work that needs to be done. And I’m more committed than ever to delivering on what you elected me to do: prioritize community safety, end mass incarceration, and crack down on the scourge of gun violence in L.A. County.

My primary focus is and has always been keeping the people of Los Angeles safe from crime while creating a more equitable justice system for all.

Yesterday's announcement doesn’t change that one bit.

I’m more energized than ever, and I hope you’ll join me in saying our movement is here to stay. Add your name to send a message that criminal justice reform is marching on.

I’m honored by the support you’ve shown me. I’m not done fighting, and I know you’re not either.

Onward,

District Attorney, Los Angeles County
