The ongoing hearings by the bipartisan congressional committee investigating the January 6 insurrection are illuminating and riveting.

The evidence is piling up that Donald Trump and his gang of lackeys conspired to:

• Invent and perpetuate the Big Lie that the 2020 election was “stolen” from Trump.

• Foment the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

• Attempt a coup d’etat intended to overturn the election — which would have, in effect, ended democracy (imperfect though it may be) in America.
