How many innocent lives have been stolen by guns since President Biden took office, and what can he do about it?
Those are the questions we aim to answer with ShockMarket.org, a new gun violence tracker produced in collaboration with March For Our Lives and Change the Ref. We launched the site on Monday, which marked four years since the tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida, to demand that President Biden do everything and anything in his power to reduce gun deaths.
Since President Biden’s inauguration, over 47,857 Americans have died from gun violence, but unfortunately this administration has left too many solutions for saving lives on the table.
Please consider making a donation to help us send a message to the White House: you must do anything and everything in your power to save lives!
Our movement over the last 20 or 30 years has really failed to create public pressure and to hold our friends accountable when they’re in power. It’s created a dynamic where Democrats running for office make all kinds of promises when they need your vote, and then once they’re elected, they turn around and they tell you that things are just too complicated politically. |
That’s why I joined David Hogg and Patricia Oliver on CNN’s New Day to announce our campaign and urge this administration to establish a National Office of Gun Violence Prevention to help coordinate the government’s response to the public health crisis we face. Earlier that morning, Parkland father Manuel Oliver even pulled off a surprise action, climbing a crane in front of the White House in order to suspend a banner featuring a picture of his late son Joaquin and calling for action from the president. |
During all of this, our billboard truck circled The White House, reminding President Biden of the urgency of action, and young people rallied in front of the White House asking this administration to live up to its promises. Now we need you to help us continue the momentum as we push the president to announce a plan of action at his State of the Union on March 1.
Our work is dependent on you. We thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. Stay tuned as we keep the pressure on, Igor Volsky Executive Director
