Just before the passage of the latest COVID relief bill, 8 Senate Democrats voted against raising the minimum wage to $15. Corporate Democrats in Congress prove to us every single day why we need to elect better Democrats — not just more Democrats.
That’s what Justice Democrats does when it recruits strong progressive candidates and helps elect leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman. The COVID relief bill passed but without a minimum wage increase and without the drastic measures needed to truly address this crisis.
We need to raise the minimum wage to $15, pass Medicare for All, cancel student loan debt, and elect strong progressives who know from personal experience how important it is to deliver for working-class folks. Can you contribute to fuel our work to elect Justice Democrats who will fight for progressive policies?
It is unconscionable that eight Senate Democrats would tell millions of essential workers earning poverty wages that they are ‘heroes’ but don’t deserve a $15 minimum wage. People across the country and political spectrum support policies like a $15 minimum wage. It’s even passed as statewide ballot measures in red states. Sens. Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, Tom Carper, Maggie Hassan, Jon Tester, Jeanne Shaheen, Angus King, and Chris Coons did not represent the interests of working people in this country when they voted against a $15 minimum wage.
If the political establishment wants to keep protecting its corporate donors, we will keep ushering in a new generation of diverse, progressive Democrats like AOC, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush.
Can you make a donation of $10, $27, or anything at all to help us continue our work to usher in a new generation of progressive Democrats? We’re 100% grassroots funded, so every dollar counts.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
