Ady Barkan is "the North Star if you're looking up to see what direction our country should be headed." And that direction is justice for all.
We are proud that Ady Barkan, a champion for Medicare for All, today endorsed Ed Markey for re-election. |
|
In 2016, just after the birth of his son Carl, Ady was diagnosed with the terminal neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Since then, he has been a leading voice on health care reform and an advocate for Medicare for All.
In April 2019, Ady testified before the House Committee on Rules in favor of Medicare for All at the first-ever congressional hearing on the subject. He has been hailed as the “most powerful activist in America.”
Ady knows that Ed Markey has the "optimism and perseverance" to make bold, progressive change. We are proud that he is #StickingWithEd, and look forward to working with him so that every American can receive high-quality, affordable, and comprehensive health care.

Ed In The News:
MSNBC (Video): Sen. Markey: Green New Deal can solve both climate and economic crises With the coronavirus devastating the U.S. economy, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) says the Green New Deal has the potential to create new jobs that help protect the planet. He tells Lawrence O’Donnell when originally proposed it “seemed radical at the time, it now seems like the answer to a problem.”Daily Hampshire Gazette: Rivka Solomon: ‘I have an advocate in Ed Markey’ During a 2017 town hall in Northampton, Sen. Ed Markey said to me: “I will be your advocate.” And he has not wavered since… Sen. Markey has not left me, nor the up to 2.5 million Americans suffering from ME/CFS, behind. When few else on Capitol Hill would listen, Markey stood up and fought for us through appropriations requests, bipartisan Senate resolutions, and letters to federal health agencies.
Taunton Gazette: Letter to the Editor: Keep Markey in Congress I live in Taunton. Congressman Joe Kennedy is my congressman. I think that he has been a good congressman for this district and country. But I think that Ed Markey has been a better senator for all of us. On the most important environmental issues of our day, Markey is the leader in this country. As far as I know each and every environmental organization has endorsed Markey. This is critical for our very survival. Donald Trump has been going out of his way to wreck environmental laws.
MetroWest Daily News: A Champion for Those With Disabilities Over the past four decades, one person in Congress has consistently pushed equal technology access to the forefront of legislative debates, improving the lives of not only people with disabilities but of all Americans. Sen. Ed Markey has been the principal author and champion of a collection of laws that have torn down barrier after barrier that telephone, television, wireless, and broadband services could pose for people with disabilities.
Boston Magazine: In the Endorsement Battle with Joe Kennedy, Ed Markey Is Winning In terms of sheer volume of support from powerful allies, the advantage clearly goes to Markey. How much that will matter in the end is unclear, but it’s possible it could tip a very tight race in his favor. Polls have shown Kennedy with a slight lead, and on fundraising, both campaigns are roughly even.
