At 11:59 PM on June 30, we’ll close the books on one of the most important fundraising deadlines our campaign has had so far. We’ve set a goal to raise $85,000 by then. And I’ll be honest: this isn’t just another number on a spreadsheet. Whether or not we’re able to reach this goal will not only set the stage for the next quarter, but also for our August primary and the general election in November. We launched this campaign as underdogs. Then MAGA Republicans rammed through a new, racist congressional map that diluted Black political power and forced us to campaign across a much larger TN-09 overnight. But despite their attempts to slow us down, we’re still here. Still organizing. Still listening. Still building a campaign that the status quo doesn’t know how to control. And that’s because ordinary People have stepped up — from Tennessee and across the country — to power this Movement with what they can, when they can. Folks who are tired of stale, status quo politics, and are ready for a better tomorrow. We saw that hunger for new leadership again this week in New York, where voters showed what can happen when People reject politics as usual and choose candidates who will actually fight for them. We’re building the same kind of Movement here in TN-09. But we have to protect it. The political machine we’re up against doesn’t have to worry about deadlines like this in the same way that we do. Republicans can lean on corporate PACs, special interests, and wealthy donors who are all too happy to keep things exactly as they are.
