Former Middleboro fire captain charged with filming family member nude
WAREHAM -- A former Middleboro Fire Captain has been arraigned on multiple charges after he reportedly videotaped a 26-year-old family member in various states of undress while she was in her bedroom and bathroom.
Eric Gunnison, 59, of Middleboro faces 23 charges of photographing an unsuspecting nude person, and one charge each of unauthorized access to a computer system and criminal harassment. He was arraigned Thursday, June 18 at Wareham District Court.
According to Middleboro police reports, Gunnison secretly photographed the victim in her bedroom and bathroom
Police allege he filmed the woman through a closed set of blinds on the home’s exterior while she was in the bathroom in various states of nudity
He also allegedly gained unauthorized access to private images and videos on her personal cell phone, which he then photographed or recorded to take possession of them in his own cell phone.
Police reports state that Gunnison “intentionally targeted the victim In a series of at least 23 separate acts out of hundreds of images with undetermined dates’’ in a manner that caused “serious alarm to the victim.’’
Police determined the acts were committed “willfully and maliciously.’’ When the victim was shown the images, police said, “she became extremely upset and began to cry.’’ This proved, police said, that Gunnison actions “have undoubtedly caused her serious alarm and emotional distress.’’
Town officials in a statement noted that Gunnison was placed on administrative leave on Nov. 18, 2025,” immediately after the Town and Department learned of the allegations against him.’’
The Fire Department initiated an internal investigation at that time. Gunnison resigned from his position effective June 5. Town officials said they would make no further comment,
At the June 18 arraignment, Wareham District Court judge Edward Sharkansky ordered Gunnison to have no contact with the victim. His next scheduled court date is Aug. 20.
