The plaintiff alleges Mills owes $85,009.80 on his $20,833 per month rent.
According to the filing, Mills did not pay rent on the property between March 2025 and July 2025.
The documents News 6 obtained from the Superior Court of the District of Columbia also includes a picture of a notice taped to the door of Penthouse 07 that warns a lawsuit will be filed. That picture was taken on Jan. 27, 2025.
News 6 has reached out to Mills’ congressional office for comment.
A post from Mills’ X account @CoryMillsFL says, “I’m repeatedly asking for payment links and again as I tried with management today, it failed to process.”

The suspect, later identified by officials as Mills, allegedly told police that the situation that the argument went from verbal to physical. He said it was "severe enough to create bruising," according to the report.
The woman, who remains unidentified, told News4 on Thursday that she "contacted law enforcement to address a personal matter...Although the argument was emotionally charged, there was no physical abuse involved." She said the bruises "were from medical conditions and activities from a recent overseas trip."
A second police report obtained by the outlet said the incident was a family disturbance, and there was no probable cause for an arrest. A third report said police responded to a report of an assault, and the incident is under investigation.
MPD told News4 that an arrest warrant was sent to the U.S. Attorney's Office on Friday, but it has not been signed yet.
