Two days of agony with no escape: This is what traps do to wolves

This wolf's last days were devastating: With one wrong step, she heard -- then surely felt -- the gut-wrenching clamp of a hunter's trap.

The trap didn't kill her quickly, either. She lay trapped for two days, trying to hang on, eating the grass around her until she eventually withered away.1

Wolves deserve better than this. We're calling on Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops to take wolf traps off their shelves. Join this campaign with a donation today.

Defend Wolves. Donate Today

It's hard to imagine the desperation this wolf felt during her final agonizing days.

Did she think about the pack she was leaving behind? Did she tell her mate to go on without her? Did she have pups who tried but failed to save her?

We can't turn back the clock to rescue her, but we can help prevent more wolves from meeting the same devastating fate.

We're campaigning to get these traps off of Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops' shelves. Are you with us? Fuel our campaign to save wolves from traps today.

Wolf traps are inhumane. They snap paws, ensnare wolves' necks, and cut off blood flow to pups' brains.2

And when wolves get trapped, only two fates await:

  • They endure days of suffering until their helpless bodies give out
  • A hunter's gun silences them forever

With wolf defenders like you, we're working to get the country's largest outdoor retailer to stop selling the traps that claim and kill wolves.

We've already gathered more than 18,000 petition signatures -- now we need the resources to build a movement big enough to get traps off retailers' shelves, once and for all. Let's work to save wolves from deaths like this. Donate today.

Thank you for speaking up for wolves,

Your donation will be used to stand up for wildlife and the wild places they call home, and to support all of our campaigns to protect our environment. The generosity of people just like you is what makes all of our work possible.
