Roberts covered a chaotic clash in Minneapolis in which hundreds of ICE protesters confronted a small handful of right-wing agitators led by Jake Lang. In this video (watch above), we show a man donning a camouflage jacket portraying himself as an anti-ICE protester—who earlier in the protest was spotted wearing a U.S. Border Patrol hat. At some point over the course of several hours—and physical clashes that broke out between anti-ICE protesters and a small handful of right-wing agitators —the man was laying on the ground appearing injured. Anti-ICE protesters appeared confused as to whether he was one of them or a right-wing provocateur. “He’s one of us!” a protester said. “How do we know?” another protester questioned. “Cause I was with him earlier!” the protester insisted, continuing, “I don’t know but he’s one of us.” “I’m with them!” the man at the center of the confusion said. “Trust me…he’s been with us the whole time!” the protester vouching for him as one of the anti-ICE protesters assured the others. SUPPORT OUR REPORTING $5/MONTH That’s when things grew HIGHLY suspicious… As the group of anti-ICE protesters attempted to help him up, a large unmarked police vehicle arrived with several Hennepin County Sheriffs—and the officers quickly retrieved the man, placed him in their truck, and darted away. Immediately, viewers watching online and on social media surmised that the man plucked away by police was an undercover officer that police had deployed as a “plant” within the anti-ICE protesters.
