MIDDLEBORO REVIEW AND SO ON
In 2024, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee spent $100 million to attack Democrats who criticized Israel, and most mainstream media outlets completely ignored it.
This election year has only just begun, but AIPAC’s donors are already flooding congressional races with dark money to derail any candidate who dares to stray from the pro-Israel party line.
Their first victim was in New Jersey, where presumptive front-runner Tom Malinowski lost after AIPAC’s super PAC dumped at least $2.3 million into appallingly dishonest ads blaming him for Trump’s ICE violence. Their next target is a deep-blue Illinois district with one of the largest Palestinian populations in the country, where they’re covertly bankrolling a candidate who claims not to be seeking AIPAC’s support.
Any other big-money, special-interest spending in a race like this would be held up as a scandal. But when it comes to AIPAC, most corporate news outlets simply look the other way.
The Intercept is among the very few outlets willing to challenge the pro-Israel consensus. Unless we document every dollar linked to AIPAC, they’re going to fly under the radar, deceiving voters and thereby ensuring that Congress continues lockstep in support of genocide and occupation — even if Democrats take back the House.
