TRUMP AND CBS ROASTED

I’m not really a fan of award shows, but there were some highlights from the Golden Globes that I wanted to point out. A number of attendees wore “Be Good” pins in honor of Renee Nicole Good—who was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis last week.

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who has supported our work for years, told a reporter: “We’ve got, literally, stormtroopers running around … [Trump] says the laws of the world don’t apply to him … he has no morality—so where does that leave us?”

On the red carpet, comedian Wanda Sykes echoed the urgency: “We need to be out there and shut this rogue government down, because it’s just awful what they’re doing to people.”

And the show’s host, Nikki Glaser, slammed the DOJ and corporate media: “The Golden Globe for Best Editing goes to … the Justice Department!” she added: “The award for Most Editing goes to CBS News. Yes—CBS News: America’s newest place to see BS news.”

JEROME POWELL RESPONDS

Fed Chair Jerome Powell is fighting back after the Trump regime announced an investigation into him and the Federal Reserve.

Powell responded: “The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the president.”

Then Powell added: “Public service sometimes requires standing firm in the face of threats. I will continue to do the job … with integrity and a commitment to serving the American people.”

MARK KELLY SUES HEGSETH

Dem Sen. Mark Kelly filed a lawsuit against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of the Navy John Phelan, the Department of Defense, and the Department of the Navy in federal court on Monday.

Kelly said this about the lawsuit: “[Hegseth’s] unconstitutional crusade against me sends a chilling message to every retired member of the military: If you speak out and say something that the president or secretary of defense doesn’t like, you will be censured, threatened with demotion, or even prosecuted.”

The filing aims to have the judge rule that all actions Hegseth took against Kelly were both unlawful and unconstitutional.

MINNESOTA SUES TRUMP REGIME

The state of Minnesota, and the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are suing to stop the Trump regime’s rampant immigration abuses.

Minnesota AG Keith Ellison condemned the DHS deployment as an “invasion,” arguing that the “excessive” force and “warrantless arrests” are unconstitutional and unlawful. DHS’s “targeting of our courts, our churches, houses of worship, and schools … must stop,” Ellison said, demanding an end to the surge of federal agents.

THE REGIME CLUTCHES PEARLS ABOUT FREY

Following the killing of Renee Nicole Good, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey had a clear message for ICE: “Get the f**k out of Minneapolis.”

For members of the Trump regime who were clutching their pearls over Frey using profanity, he said: “I’m sorry I offended their delicate ears. But as far as who inflamed the situation—I dropped an f-bomb, and they killed somebody.”

Frey is right—a cuss word isn’t the problem here. It’s the unchecked violence and chaos coming from the Trump regime. But to stop it and hold them all accountable, we must win back Congress.

JUST A FEW COMMENTS AMONG MANY COMMENTS: 

When will the MAGA DIM WITS figure out that BLUE STATES are subsidizing FAILED REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED RED STATES?

Congress could wrap it all up in just a couple of days: impeach (in the House) and convict (in the Senate). Republicans looking ahead regarding their careers would be very wise to join the Dems in putting together the numbers required to end the regime now. The regime is speedily spending their $75 billion budget to increase the alarmingly violent ranks of DJT’s private Gestapo. Act now — tomorrow will be too late!

I’ve been thinking the same thing for a while. Why don’t the Republican members if Congress realize that they can save the people if this Country and possibly save their political futures?

Perhaps because the payoffs from their donors are much more important to them. And because likely some are on the Kremlin’s payroll.

Absolutely he’s building a private army who will seize ballot boxes in the next election. He just said he should have done this in 2020. He always says what he means. This ICE army needs to be abolished today!

Did the Trump regime clutch their pearls when Trump used the f-word about Israel and Iran last year? Do they need to be educated on the definition of "double standard"?

Amazing that people haven’t started calling them the “C word”yet. That is what you call restraint!

Slowly but surely, those in positions above the average citizen are getting up and standing up against this regime.

While all these lawsuits will take time, there is hope and the zone needs to be flooded with more lawsuits, in the same way the administration is flooding the zone with criminal actions.

you are right, and to answer Scott it is imperative for decorated military veterans like Mark Kelly and civic leaders in Minnesota and other drumpf battlegrounds to hold forth in the courts versus his insolent attacks, his foul wind machine. It's most encouraging that Jerome Powell is standing by his confirmed principles and not giving an inch to that slug drumpf. We citizens are charged with following the lead taken by our steadiest civic leaders if we are to prevail.

f they can only worry about profanity from the mayor of Minneapolis, they have more time on their hands than they should. They should get an earful of Mango Mussolini’s potty mouth. We have a government to save from Trump and his minions.

erome Powell's job is not an easy one, he is holding it knowledge, intelligence and strong hands; he gives us some security in our upturned mad world.

Good power to Mark Kelly, he should succeed! Hegseth is sickening, while he is around the killings multiply. We used to be a Democracy built on laws, now we teeter on something called Trump's "morality", Hey, what is that??

but the repubs are so unpopular they know they wont win the honest way, they need Trump to shut down the midterms, thats why they keep Trump in power.

Authoritarians do remain a minority, but with non-voters and anti-Hillary Clinton voters, Trump pulled off a historic upset. It appears his core supporters remain faithful—regardless of what he does or doesn’t do. So, I asked Bob Altemeyer, what if anything would get through to the Trump supporters, given the fact Trump has shown himself, so far, totally incompetent as President of the United States. Set forth below in italics is material from Bob, who is now enjoying his retirement.

It took many months for Americans to stop supporting President Nixon during Watergate, and even at the end he could count on a hard knot of supporters who would believe him, as he said to [his chief of staff] H. R. Haldeman, because they wanted to. (NYT, 11/22/1974, p. 20). A few days before he resigned, 24% of a Gallup sample approved of the way Nixon was doing his job, including 38% of the Republicans polled.

Most of Donald Trump’s supporters are probably people whom social psychologists call authoritarian followers, because they are so supportive of the authorities they consider legitimate. These are the people Trump was talking about when he famously bragged that he could shoot somebody in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue and it would make no difference to his backers. They are the people who so willingly took the “loyalty pledge” at Trump rallies in the early primaries—even calling on Trump to “do the swearing” when he had skipped it.

We know enough about authoritarian supporters from research, and history, to know it will be very hard to change their minds about the leader they adore.

• They are extremely ethnocentric, dividing the world sharply into people in their in-group, and automatically disliking all others. They feel politicians who promote minority rights and immigration discriminate against them. Donald Trump tells them they are right. He is their champion.
• They are highly dogmatic. They get their ideas from others in the in-group, especially from their leader, not from evidence and logic. They say there is no evidence that will make them change their minds. They’re quite comfortable believing “alternate facts.”
• They get great satisfaction from being part of a large movement. Being in a cohesive crowd at rallies thrills them because they silently tell one another, just by being there, that they are powerful and right. They create an echo chamber that reinforces the belief that all the good people think like they do.
• They severely limit their sources of information. They get the news that they want to get. This also produces an echo chamber when the news sources they trust are copying each other and relaying Trump’s message.
• They have highly compartmentalized minds. When an unpleasant truth forces its way into their awareness, they do not try to integrate the other things they believe with it. Instead they put it in a box and isolate it from the rest of their thinking, which proceeds as if the truth never existed.

Put all this together and you get an idea how hard it will be to change their minds about Donald Trump.
