In St. Charles, Illinois, protesters are demanding the city ban federal agents from using public property to conduct their operations. Bernie Kehoe, who attended one of the protests, said what ICE is doing is “wrong. It’s totally wrong … it’s against the Constitution.” Organizers say they will also be rallying at the city council meeting tonight, and are urging folks to support local businesses impacted by Trump’s immigration abuses.
Folks in Central Islip, New York, have been regularly protesting against inhumane conditions at an ICE holding facility—where a judge recently said immigrants were being detained in a way “that shocks the conscience.” One protester said that “we have to show up … we have to say it’s not OK.” The judge has threatened the Trump regime with contempt charges for the awful conditions inside, and forced ICE to limit the time it holds detainees to no more than 12 hours. Trump could see that his attacks on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz did not stick as he had hoped. The lies and propaganda about childcare fraud in Minnesota have been wildly overblown and are getting debunked every single day. So in a move of desperation, Trump shared a disgusting conspiracy theory that suggested Walz was responsible for the murder of his friend, former MN Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman. But in reality, the man who killed the Hortmans was a Trump supporter. Walz slammed Trump’s “dangerous, depraved behavior,” stating: “In covering for an actual serial killer, he is going to get more innocent people killed.
