WTF is going on with the Republican Party right now?

Friends, there have been a few news stories recently that have made me wonder (even more than usual) — WTF is going on with the Republican Party right now? I mean… this is wildly vile and alarming stuff.    It goes without saying (or at least it used to) that this rhetoric is incredibly dangerous. But that’s not what we’re hearing from the GOP.   JD Vance even took to social media to defend the despicable comments in the leaked chat as “stupid jokes” from “kids” — basically saying boys will be boys.   Reality check: some of the people in that chat were my age! One was literally a state senator in Vermont — and at least he had enough shame to resign.   THIS IS NOT OK.   We have some big work to do as a country. We need to be reflecting on what our core values really are, how we teach them to our kids, and how we reach a generation of young adults that’s struggling through unprecedented times. And of course, we need to think about what’s led to the crises we find ourselves in right now, so as a country, we don’t make the same mistakes again.   But while we do that, we’re also in the middle of a frontline fight against an actively authoritarian government that’s militarizing our cities and trampling on our rights. And in that fight, we desperately need more people on our side — we need to elect more Democrats.   Taking back the House next year is one critical glimmering light at the end of this dangerous tunnel, so we need to do every single thing we can to make that happen.    That’s what my team and I are working on, and it’s why I’m asking for your support.
