Buttigieg said: “The agenda of Washington Republicans is so unpopular that even here in Indiana they are afraid of losing … But instead of changing their policies or trying to get better results, they decided to just try to change the map instead.” Pete told the crowd, “We have a word for that,” to which folks responded by yelling “dictatorship,” “undemocratic,” and plenty of expletives. “Okay, we have a lot of words for that,” Buttigieg said while smiling. “But the word I’m going to go with is cheating. Cheating is wrong and ... cheaters never win in the end.” NEW EPSTEIN EVIDENCE Trump’s Epstein scandal is not going away anytime soon. In a major development, the Treasury Department started handing over Epstein-related documents to the House Oversight Committee. This could help expose Epstein’s money trail. Chairman James Comer—one of Trump’s biggest enablers in the House—is seeking a list of names connected to Epstein’s trafficking operation. Comer says if they can’t find a list, the committee will compile its own. I wouldn’t trust Comer with a garage door opener, let alone a scandal this big. But thankfully, Democrats are stepping up to make sure the truth comes out. ACOSTA TESTIFIES Members of the House Oversight Committee also heard testimony behind closed doors from former federal prosecutor Alex Acosta—who gave Epstein the most shameful plea deal ever back in 2008. Ranking Member Robert Garcia condemned Acosta’s handling of the Epstein case, calling it “a deeply flawed investigation.” He’s right—and it’s just one of many reasons why the entire Epstein scandal demands a new, full-scale investigation. MORE PUSHBACK AGAINST DISNEY Protests against Disney erupted this week in NYC, Burbank, and in Hollywood—where Jimmy Kimmel Live! is taped. People are also canceling Disney’s streaming services, cruises, and theme park visits in growing numbers. Even the former CEO of Disney, Michael Eisner, spoke out against the company’s censorship, stating: “The ‘suspending indefinitely’ of Jimmy Kimmel immediately after the Chairman of the FCC's aggressive yet hollow threatening of the Disney Company is yet another example of out-of-control intimidation.” It sure is. CROW STANDS STRONG Dem Rep. Jason Crow, a decorated Veteran, spoke out forcefully against the Trump regime’s attack on free speech. Crow said: “I went to war three times. My observations are that Charlie Kirk’s killer was apolitical and neither recruited, nor radicalized. The Discord app for group text, video, screen sharing, and discussions is used by gamers, not for politics. In Discord over 6 years, Tyler Robinson, an avid gamer, used the word Trump once in 2019, and the word Biden once in 2020. That is it, people. I call that apolitical. His friends said he never talked politics. Only games. For political reasons, the Administration and the Republican Utah governor are trying very hard to paint Tyler Robinson into the left camp. Therein lies a problem. Many on the right are confused by God-given sexual orientations. Confused, they indiscriminately throw out chum. Bloody chum in the water brings sharks. Frenzied sharks will bite anything. That is not violence. What they bite brings to them emotionally soothing food. There is a need for health social services to address those emotionally challenged individuals that strike out with gunshots. Dorf excerpt:  Alan Dershowitz, the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus, at Harvard Law School, has threatened to sue a vendor at a Martha’s Vineyard famers’ market over the latter’s refusal to sell him a half-dozen pierogies. Professor Dershowitz almost certainly has no legal case under federal or Massachusetts law. However, if the esteemed legal scholar who heroically  declined to remove his underwear while receiving a massage at Jeffrey Epstein’s home had sought his dumplings in one of the states that forbid political opinion discrimination by places of public accommodation, he might well have a winning argument. This undoubtedly silly incident thus raises an important and surprisingly difficult question: Should the law forbid merchants who hold themselves out to the public from denying service based on the political viewpoint of prospective customers? The Facts and the Law According to Professor Dershowitz himself, the vendor at the West Tisbury Farmers Market refused to sell him any pierogies because, in the words of the vendor, “I don’t approve of your politics. I don’t approve of who[m] you’ve represented. I don’t approve of who[m] you support.” When asked by Professor Dershowitz for more specifics about the nature of the disapproval, the vendor reportedly said “I’m not going to tell you. I just don’t like your politics.” The police were subsequently called and, although the incident ended without any violence, there remains the threat of litigation. That threat is hollow. A pierogi vendor at a farmers’ market is almost certainly a “place of public accommodation” under federal law and Massachusetts law. Indeed, in addition to permitting civil liability, Massachusetts law even provides for criminal punishment of up to a year in prison for refusal to serve a potential customer based on illicit discrimination. Yet not all forms of discrimination are illicit. The principal federal public accommodations law forbids discrimination based on “race, color, religion, or national origin.” The Massachusetts version repeats those forbidden grounds and adds sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability.
