Nicole Collier has been trapped since Monday inside the Texas Capitol building. Why? Because GOP leaders required Dems—who left the state to block Trump’s redistricting scheme—agree to a 24/7 police escort or they couldn’t leave. Collier refused, kicking off this powerful show of resistance. “They say take that high road,” Collier said. “That high road has crumbled. We’re on a dirt road and we’re gonna meet them and get down and dirty. My fellow Democrats are ready to fight with the grit that is necessary to challenge the oppressor.” A crowd of protesters formed outside of the Texas House chamber on Monday and Tuesday, chanting “Let her out,” and “Don’t mess with Texas women.” Former Vice President Kamala Harris called Collier last night, telling her: “You are those who history will reveal to have been heroes of this moment.” Rep. Collier has filed a lawsuit over the “illegal confinement,” stating that Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows “does not have the power to compel any Texas citizen or any elected official into preemptive custody.” More to come on this. BOSTON’S MAYOR PUSHES BACK Pam Bondi and the DoJ have threatened prosecutions and withholding of funding for cities that don’t comply with Trump’s unhinged assault on immigrants. But Boston Mayor Michelle Wu refuses to be an accomplice. At a press conference yesterday, Wu declared: “Here is our response: Stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures … Unlike the Trump [regime], Boston follows the law, and Boston will not back down.” Wu added that under the Trump regime, “groceries are less affordable, housing is harder to build, cures for cancer are farther away, and good news on our economy has been as hard to find as the Epstein list.” This is the kind of fire folks need to bring. SPEAKING OF EPSTEIN The DoJ will start turning over some of the Epstein files to Congress on Friday. And Dem Rep. Robert Garcia said what we’re all thinking: “Releasing the Epstein files in batches just continues this White House cover-up … The American people will not accept anything short of the full, unredacted Epstein files.” Garcia’s right. So, where are the FULL Epstein files? FACT CHECK Trump keeps acting like he’s going to get rid of mail-in ballots, calling them “corrupt.” He’s lying—it’s a secure way to vote. And it’s not something that Trump can directly do much about. PA Gov. Josh Shapiro made it clear: “Trump can sign whatever executive order he wants to sign, but it won't change the Constitution … the authority to set our election rules belongs to the states.” This is one of Trump’s most unhinged and dangerous ideas yet.
