Nevada AG: Trump’s Atlantic City Disaster Was Just the Warm-Up
Nevada AG Aaron Ford warns that Trump’s “encore” is destroying Las Vegas and lays out the plan to fight back
I just sat down with Nevada Attorney General, and now Democratic candidate for governor, Aaron Ford, and he told me how the people of Nevada have had it with Donald Trump’s fraud and broken promises.
Trump’s latest gimmick was supposed to be “no taxes on tips.” Sounds great… until you realize that international tourism has collapsed because travelers around the world don’t want to spend their money in a country run by a corrupt, unstable embarrassment. Tourism from Canada alone is down nearly 40%, and Vegas visits have dropped by more than 11%. That’s tens of thousands of union workers whose actual incomes have been slashed (reports say by more than half!!!) all thanks to Trump’s trade wars, anti-clean-energy tantrums, and outright hatred for working families.
Sound familiar? It should. Trump already ran the exact same scam in Atlantic City. He promised “the most successful hotel in the world” and left behind a bankrupt shell and thousands of unemployed workers. Now he’s trying to do an encore in Nevada.
And to make matters worse, Nevada’s MAGA governor, Joe Lombardo, is openly siding with Trump over his own constituents. Even as they suffer. When working people in his state pushed back, Lombardo literally told them to “go f*** themselves.” That’s not just us saying that or speculating. We uncovered the actual audio and released it ourselves.
Aaron Ford laid out the contrast perfectly. While Lombardo vetoes bipartisan bills that would lower prescription drug costs, tackle housing prices, and protect clean energy jobs, Ford actually worked across the aisle in the state legislature to deliver real solutions for Nevadans.
It’s not just that Ford is running against Lombardo. Lombardo is running against the people. And the people are waking up.

Anew $250 "visa integrity fee" will soon be required for most foreign nationals applying to enter the United States, following the passage of President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
The fee applies to all non-immigrant visa applicants, including those traveling for tourism, business, education, or temporary work, and will be collected at the time the visa is issued. Although the law allows for reimbursement of the fee after the visa expires, the specifics of how this process will work have yet to be clarified.
Why It Matters
Since returning to office, Trump has directed his administration to remove millions of people without legal status from the country to fulfill his campaign pledge of widespread mass deportations.
The new fee significantly increases the cost of obtaining a visa, especially for families and students who are already facing high application fees and travel expenses. For example, a family of four applying for tourist visas could now face an additional $1,000 in visa integrity fees alone.
What To Know
Drawing on information from the U.S. State Department, Newsweek has created this map to illustrate which countries will be required to pay a fee to enter the country.
Nationals of countries not included in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) will be required to pay the $250 visa integrity fee when applying for any type of non-immigrant visa. This includes citizens of countries such as India, China, Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, and the Philippines, as well as most nations in the Middle East and Africa. The fee applies to all visa categories, including short-term visas such B-1/B-2 (tourist/business), F-1 (student), H-1B (temporary worker), and J-1 (exchange visitor).
The $250 fee represents the minimum amount mandated by law for fiscal year 2025. However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may increase the fee through regulatory rulemaking.
Starting in 2026, the fee will be adjusted annually to account for inflation.
While the law technically allows for a refund of the visa integrity fee, it is contingent on meeting strict compliance requirements. Travelers must fully adhere to the terms of their visa, avoid overstaying by more than five days, refrain from accepting unauthorized employment, and either depart the U.S. on time or lawfully extend or adjust their status.
Refunds can only be requested after the visa expires, which may take years depending on the visa type. Currently, there is no formal refund system in place, making the fee effectively non-refundable.
The fee also applies to employment-based visas. An H-1B applicant applying abroad—whose employer already covers a $780 application fee and a $500 anti-fraud fee may now be responsible for an additional $250 under the new visa integrity fee. Employers will need to decide whether to absorb this extra cost as part of employee benefits or pass it on to the worker.

Keep in mind that ANY STATE that has a single industry/business that controls revenues sacrifices CONTROL. It may be gambling in NEVADA, but it's DIRTY COAL in other staters.
In one of the books about LAS VEGAS, one of the casino owners was asked why he didn't run for office & his response was essentially 'why should I run for office when I can buy politcians.'
CASINOS in Atlantic City destroyed the area because they weren't controlled appropriately & the area was HIGH POVERTY. The FEDERAL RESERVE did a study & determined that the pay was so low, 2 or 3 jobs were required - regardless of what they claim. In addition, no one with a criminal record could work there.
NEW JERSEY CASINO WORKERS were brought to MASSACHUSETTS to testify before the state legislature about how wonderful their jobs were & how well paid they were.
I grew up in NEW YORK & when our community in MASSACHUSETTS was confronted with a NATIVE AMERICAN CASINO, a childhood friend commented that CASINOS had FREE BUSES in NEW YORK that would take gamblers to ATLANTIC CITY - give them a few dollars to get started gambling. His parents would take the FREE BUS & have LUNCH! The never gambled.
I believe FREE BUSES were stopped when the HOMELESS discovered the FREE LUNCH.
DAVID CAY JOHNSTON wrote 2 thoroughly researched books about TRUMP'S CASINO follies. In violation of NJ GAMING LAW, both TRUMP & MERV GRIFFIN applied for licenses with NO PERSONAL INVESTTMENT of their own. Books should be archived at your local library if you still have one. Trump was busy pursuing the next wife while building the next casino.
PERSKE was the legislator who wrote the gaming regulations, went on to become CHAIR of the commission, then became a JUDGE, left amid scandal.
Trump would send a LIMO to pick up underage gamblers.
There was also his YACHT at the time.
It's an interessting side note that BLACK employees were removed from the gambling floor when Trump arrived.
All employees signed NDA so not much was revealed at the time.
