Billie is right. I never “sugar coat.” I express my views — and know that you won’t always agree with me. That’s okay. "It was a mistake."
Imagine this scenario.
A young man wakes up in the morning He showers, shaves, gets out the door, stops at McDonald’s, grabs a coffee plus an Egg McMuffin, and heads to work.
He is part of a team.
He is an ICE agent.
He took the bonus money, and couldn’t find any job that paid more than the six-figure salary being paid to the masked men.
His pastor told him that he was doing God’s work.
The propaganda told him that he was serving his country and defending his culture.
He has been told over and over again that the people whom he is attacking are the gravest dangers imaginable. He is told that they are rapists, murderers, child traffickers and terrorists.
Until he joined ICE people called him a loser, but not anymore because now he is fighting invaders, carrying a federal badge and making real money.
Imagine him walking into the morning meeting at the temporary headquarters where the masked men gather for their briefings and orders.
This day is different.
The unit leader seems a little nervous and on edge when he walks up to the front of the room and says, “We have a tough job today.”
He goes on to explain that the homeless people who were arrested in Washington, DC, have been moved to a US military base in southern New Jersey. There is no more room for them because of the new arrivals from Chicago, Philadelphia and New York that are flooding in.
Though his heart does not seem to be in it, he talks about the great courage it has taken for Trump, Kristi Noem, and the rest of MAGA to do the kind and humane thing with people that live like animals on the streets in filth and crime.
He talks about their “liberation” from this world, and the paradise they will find in the next.
He talks about a difficult job that lies ahead, and says that any person who wishes to be excused from the hard duty may be, if they choose.
They can simply leave the room.
A few people do.
Most of the men sneer at them.
The boss quiets them, and says that each man must follow their own conscience.
Later in the day, the young ICE agent will help to kill thousands of people.
He will be told that his orders are lawful, patriotic, necessary and humane.
He will be called a hero by his president and government.
The American people will be told that the homeless went somewhere better.
Most will shrug and move on.
For those of you who don’t think this story is possible, I’d like to suggest learning a bit more about Reserve Police Battalion 101.
How do you train men to kill defenseless people with malice?
It’s actually simple.
First, dehumanize the people to be killed, and then abuse them.
Once you train someone to enjoy making someone sleep on cold concrete floors, drink out of toilets, suffer in cold or heat or both, shooting them becomes an easy step. Or, help to arrest a 15-year-old boy with special needs outside of his high school:
History teaches that the work becomes like stepping on ants.
What is being built in America is un-American, yet it is happening.
What is descending is an evil, but it is descending.
It is said that there can be no tyrants in America because we are a nation of laws not men, but we have become a nation in which tyranny is rising, and corruption is rampant.
What is happening is happening, but it can be stopped.
It must be stopped.
Will it be stopped in time?
This is the greatest question of our time.
