Homeland Security just posted a photo of the Palestinian flag and called it a “desecration of American soil.” They said waving a foreign flag in protest is an outrage and vowed to continue mass deportations. But where was this same energy on January 6th? Because I remember when Trump’s mob stormed the U.S. Capitol carrying Confederate flags and zip ties. I remember them beating police officers, ransacking offices, smearing feces on the walls, and hunting down elected officials — all to overturn a democratic election. And I remember Homeland Security standing down while it happened. So no — waving a Palestinian flag at a protest is not desecration. You know what is? 📍Letting seditionists overrun our Capitol while the President sits back and watches. 📍Using the full power of the federal government to terrorize brown people in immigrant communities. 📍Calling it “law and order” when it’s nothing but fear and racism dressed up in a uniform.   This is the ugly face of Trump’s America. But I believe in another kind of America — one that defends the right to dissent, welcomes those fleeing violence, and remembers that liberty doesn’t come with conditions.
