Great News That’s Really Awful For TrumpA big Dem win in Texas, Trump bombs in new interview, and moreWelcome to this Sunday edition of our Great News series. If you want to cut through Trump’s lies and propaganda to get the truth, you’ve come to the right place. In addition to our Contact Congress campaign, and our social media efforts—the Dworkin Report now has one of the most widely-read daily news briefs in the world. But to stay fully independent, our work is always funded entirely by our readers. So if you haven’t yet, please become a paid subscriber today: Let’s get to it. Only 6 days to go until what is likely to be the largest protest of the year, with more than 1,800 anti-Trump events planned across America. One of the demonstrations on June 14th aims to form a 7-mile human chain in California. I can’t wait to see it come together. Thanks to our amazing subscriber Virginia for flagging this. Gina Ortiz Jones triumphed on Saturday night, winning the San Antonio mayoral race. It was a tough campaign, where Jones had to face off against the GOP’s dark money machine. Jones won by more than 8%, despite being outraised by her opponent. A big Dem win. During her victory speech, Jones declared: “Our city is about compassion and it's about leading with everybody in mind—and when one side offered racism, we offered compassion and focused on getting things done.” A federal judge blocked Trump’s attempted ban on international students at Harvard, ruling that it was illegal. Trump lied, claiming they all were a threat to national security, but offered no proof of that in court. Because he has none. Founder of Latinas for Trump, GOP State Sen. Ileana Garcia, finally came out against Trump's horrific mass deportation efforts—calling them “unacceptable,” and “inhumane.” Garcia had the gall to say: “This is not what we voted for.” It absolutely is what YOU voted for. And you’re one of the folks to blame for this mess. Protests continued in the Los Angeles-area yesterday against the Trump regime’s ICE operations. In response to a select few causing trouble, Trump said he was sending in 2,000 members of the National Guard. Let’s be real. Trump doesn’t care about law and order. He surely doesn’t care what happens in Los Angeles, let alone anywhere else outside of his golf clubs. This is not good news, but the outcome of his rampant abuses of power eventually will be. I believe this move will backfire spectacularly, and drive a massive turnout for the upcoming protests. In a propaganda-fest which just aired on Meet The Press, Trump essentially threatened Musk—saying there would be consequences if he donates to Democrats. Wait, what? Trump also said it wasn’t his decision to bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia, even though the move would require Trump’s explicit approval. I seem to remember a few weeks ago when DHS Secretary Kristi Noem lied in front of Congress, saying: “There is no scenario where Abrego Garcia will be in the United States again.” Coming back to face an indictment is surely not the homecoming supporters wanted for him. But one thing is clear—Garcia is back in America, and he will get the due process he deserves. Former President Joe Biden is pushing back hard, after Trump ordered a baseless investigation into his cognitive abilities while in office. Biden stated, “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency ... Any suggestion that I didn't is ridiculous and false.” Biden continued, saying it’s nothing more than a Trump and GOP distraction—to cover up the “disastrous legislation that would cut essential programs like Medicaid and raise costs on American families, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.” That is a fact, and we won’t let them distract us from Trump’s hideous budget bill. We’ve mobilized a gigantic subscriber-backed Contact Congress campaign, which is making countless calls and has sent more than 365,000 letters.
