I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know. It seems - it might say that, but if you’re talking about that, then we’d have to have a million or 2-3 million trials. I was elected to get them the hell out of here, and the courts are holding me from doing it.” … Deportation hearings are not “trials” and immigration judges are not federal district judges - they work for DOJ. Most of these hearings can happen very quickly if you have enough judges and DOJ is prepared to move forward with cases. One of the main provisions of the bipartisan border bill that Trump had killed last year added hundreds of new immigration judges so a higher volume of cases could be handled quickly. … Q - But even given those numbers that you’re talking about, don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as president? Trump: “I don’t know.” … Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD): “It’s the only specific oath that’s actually detailed in it’s language. It says before the president undertakes the execution of the office he has to swear to say that he will preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. The fact that doesn’t leap to mind for him is pretty shocking even for Donald Trump.” … Cardinal Timothy Dolan was asked about Trump posting an AI picture of himself on Truth Social as the new Pope: “I hope he didn’t have anything to do with that. It wasn’t good - brutta figura.” (Italian for making a fool of yourself). … NY State Catholic Conference, the official policy org of Catholic Bishops in NY: “There is nothing clever or funny about this image, Mr. President. We just buried our beloved Pope Francis and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St. Peter. The Note, citing US govt numbers, said that not one state has recorded average gas prices that low. The lowest statewide average was $2.66 in Mississippi, with the national average over $3.00 a gallon. … Ryan Cummings, Chief of Staff for Stanford Institute on Economic Policy, on Trump claiming gas is $1.88 a gallon: “OMG. POTUS's team is showing him the cost of wholesale, unfinished gasoline, which does not include the cost of oxygenates (e.g., ethanol) and all the distribution and marketing costs, and telling him this is the price of gasoline you are paying at the pump!” … Trump was told that the prices of things that working families need are going up because of tariffs: "When you say strollers are going up - I'm saying that gasoline is going down. Gasoline is thousands of times more important than a stroller. And you don't need to have 35 dolls. You can have 2, 3, 4 and save a lot of money.” … CNN: “As of 12:01 am ET on Sat, most auto part imports will come with a 25% import tax. The previous auto tariffs left US-made cars untouched. Not anymore. Not a single one of the 10 million cars turned out by US plants last year was built without at least some imported parts. The tariffs on parts could now mean tens of billions of dollars in new cost to the industry – and eventually to American car buyers and owners. More than 50% of the content of cars assembled in American auto plants is imported.” … Jonathan Smoke, chief economist at Cox Automotive: “Frankly, from my perspective, the parts tariffs looks worse for the broader economy than the tariffs on imported vehicles. Trump: “Yeah. Everything is ok.” … Trump was asked if he would rule out using military force to take Canada: “I don’t think we’ll ever get to that point. It could happen with Greenland though.” … Q - What do you to people who say they voted for you to end foreign conflicts not start them? Trump: “I don’t see that as conflict. I think that’s good for our country.” … Q- So you are willing to send US Troops to claim a sovereign territory? Trump: “It could happen. I doubt it will, but it certainly could happen with respect to Greenland.” … Rasmus Jarlov, Danish Conservative MP: “Denmark was liberated from the Nazis this evening 80 years ago. Items shipped directly from China, which previously blanketed the site, are now labeled as out of stock. … Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) was asked on CBS if she will vote to confirm Mike Waltz as UN Ambassador after he was fired as NSA Director: "I think everybody on that Signal chain needs to be fired. He's failing up. Unfortunately, President Trump chose the one big beautiful bill. What he should've done is the multiple step process.” … Johnson was then asked if it could get done by the end of 2025: “Not if we don't come down to pre-pandemic spending.” (They are never going to cut spending that much, so we will see if so-called deficit hawks like Johnson stick to their guns on this when Trump starts yelling at them). … Johnson was asked on CNN about the CDC denying Milwaukee’s request for help in addressing a growing lead crisis in its schools: “I wouldn't think this is something that requires federal government involvement in it. Local and state officials ought to be able to handle this.” … Johnson was asked about Trump’s tariffs: “President Trump has a negotiating strategy, a negotiating style. I think he's throwing the entire world out of balance. I think he understands that creates uncertainty and instability, which is not good for economic activity. To run for the Senate, he had to live in AL only for a day before the 2020 election, but to run for governor in AL, residency requirements say a candidate has to live in the state for 7 years. (He is reportedly about to announce his run for governor soon) … “If he truly was an AL resident, his income taxes should show it. But so far he hasn’t. Instead, Tuberville has fallen back on a different argument — that his wife’s homestead exemption in Auburn is enough to prove his residency going back to 2018. A homestead exemption is a property tax break homeowners can take on their primary residence. If he was living in AL in 2018, why was he still voting in FL in 2018? … In 2018, Tuberville’s wife, Suzanne, claimed a homestead exemption on a house in Auburn. However, later that same year, Tuberville and his wife continued to vote in FL. Tuberville put his name on two AL deeds last year — one in Auburn and another in Madison — each with their own homestead exemptions. If a homestead exemption means residency, then which is it?” … “Speaking to AL Daily News this week, Tuberville may have tipped his hand. He claimed that the law requires him to live a total of 7 years in AL, not all 7 years leading up to the election: ‘I was at Auburn 10 years and so I lived there for 10 years in a row. So it’s not your last 7 years.’ But the AL Constitution says candidates must be residents for 7 years ‘next before’ the date of the election.” (That language has been interpreted to mean immediately before). … Whitmire: ”If he wants to show where he’s lived, he needs to show us his taxes. To NJ Globe: “The counsel’s office has pledged to us that they want to work cooperatively to find somebody for that position. I was told that she is temporarily there, and I feel like I’ve gotten assurances that we’re going to work to find a different person for permanency. That’s the good faith I’m working in right now.” … Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to the story: “Fake News. No such assurances were ever given to Senator Booker from the WH Counsel’s Office. President Trump proudly appointed Alina Habba to serve, and he believes she is doing a tremendous job cleaning up NJ.” … Pardoned Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio posted this after his trip to Mar-a-Lago this weekend: “Yesterday, I had the honor of meeting the POTUS, a moment I never could have imagined in my darkest days. I’ve been given a second chance to start anew, and I know this is no accident. God made this possible. Through Jesus, all things are possible. My deepest gratitude goes to my family, my brotherhood, my friends, and every person who fought for justice and helped elect the greatest president since George Washington.” … Tarrio was serving a 22 year prison sentence for seditious conspiracy and several other charges when Trump pardoned him. We had a great time visiting the Berkshires the past two days, visiting several farms and small museums. The Norman Rockwell Museum was amazing. I had no idea how much he did and got to see many works that have never gotten much notice publicly - especially the social commentary ones he did on civil rights later in life.
