My boyfriend is a pilot. Air traffic controllers are now telling him and the entire air fleet “maintain own separation” meaning you as a pilot are expected to watch out for other aircraft so as not to collide…all because controllers got DOGE’D and there simply are not enough.

Trump and Musk are trying to run the U.S. like they run corporations, but a government is for the people, the complete opposite of a corporation. Does anyone still think Trunk and Musk are geniuses?

I think it's important to clarify some things. They laid off almost 400 probationary employees from the FAA, and I think about 130 we re-hired. Of those laid off, none were air traffic controllers. What we have is a severe shortage of ATCs which has strained the system for years. It seems things are coming to a head. The worst part is you can't expect a republican-controlled government to increased funding for anything, including airline safety. The GOP is a death cult.

To paraphrase the famous quote: “How did you become a dictatorship? Two ways: gradually … then suddenly.” That’s the USA right now. Ive travelled months throughout Europe and Eastern Europe. In Poland, the grandfather of a family I stayed with said the first realization that a dictatorship had taken root there was when every system of society began failing and collapsing. By the time the systems fail it is already too late. The collapse has already taken place although it takes time for citizens to realize it. But by then of course it’s too late. Most people in the USA are likely still living under the illusion of how things were (and are supposed to be) and can’t see what’s right before their eyes.
