SPEWS MUCH LESS ALLOW HER TO DETERMINE GOVERNMENTAL POLICY...
This morning, I was attacked on Twitter in a long rant by Trump supporter Laura Loomer. Here’s just the start of her tweet.
If you don't know who Laura Loomer is, she is a white nationalist whose conspiracy theories include calling school shootings “staged” events and September 11 "an inside job." She gets hundreds of millions of views on Twitter and possibly because of that, she now has walk-in access to the Oval Office.
And just last week, she used that access to significant effect: she gave the president a list of some of the nation's most senior generals to fire. And he did it the next day. Some of the most senior generals in our national security community, after serving honorably and exceptionally for 30 years, were summarily fired.
I gave a speech about it on the floor of the Senate where I expressed extreme frustration that my Republican colleagues, who have always claimed to be pro-defense, pro-patriot, pro-American, and pro-flag, couldn’t muster a word to stand up for an expert who served our country for 30 years.
Why? Because they’re scared. They live in fear that Trump may turn his spotlight on them, and go after them in front of the world.
So many actions happening on the floor of the Senate these days are in response to pure fear.
In truth, there are very few “true believers” in what this administration is doing. They are cowering in the corner, or trying to wait Trump out (as one Republican told me) while real patriots – people who have been trusted with the most sensitive information to keep our country safe – are being fired for no reason.
Quick thought for these Republicans: if fear causes you to vote differently, talk differently, or act differently, this isn’t the right job for you. Resign, go back home, and enjoy a quieter life with less pressure, and fewer people counting on you.
This latest round is indicative of a much bigger story taking place with President Trump. So I will continue to speak out about what he’s doing to our country, no matter what kind of attacks or attention it draws.
