More Great News That’s Terrible for Trump
Onward.
It’s only Tuesday, and I’m sure we’ve already had enough of Trump and Musk’s nonsense for the week—so I’m glad to have more good news to deliver for everyone today. I hope it gives you some relief, and shows you there are wonderful people all across the world fighting this tyranny alongside us.
Dem Sen. Mark Kelly, a former astronaut who served in the Navy for 25 years, visited Ukraine to show his support over the weekend. “The safety of Ukraine is tied to the safety of the United States,” Kelly said, when back in the US. “That’s why I stand with Ukraine.”
Sen. Kelly later slammed Elon Musk, who called him a “traitor” on Twitter/X: “Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”
And this was just one small part of Musk’s miserable Monday.
Protests against Tesla continued to build across the world—from showrooms to dealerships, and even at charging stations. Yesterday, the company’s stock suffered it’s biggest plunge in 5 years—down 41% since the beginning of this year. And we learned that five of the tech billionaires who were seen groveling at Trump’s January 20th coronation, including Musk, have lost at least $210 billion since then.
In a big win for transparency, a judge ordered an urgent release of internal emails and documents from DOGE and the Office of Management and Budget. “The authority exercised ... and the dramatic cuts it has apparently made with no congressional input appear to be unprecedented,” wrote the judge.
GOP Rep. Don Bacon went on TV yesterday to talk about Musk and Trump’s failing foreign policy: “Why is a White House official, that's not even elected, why is that person belittling the Polish foreign minister? It's not appropriate. It's not right.”
Bacon also blasted Trump for “playing into the hands of Putin,” calling it “devastating” for our national security. “Countries are questioning,” Bacon stated, “are we still the leader of the free world? ... This administration is walking away from that legacy.”
Dem Senators Tammy Duckworth and Andy Kim are introducing a bill that would force the Trump Administration to rehire all of the Veterans they have fired. The Protect Veteran Jobs Act would also make it mandatory for Trump to give a quarterly report to justify any firings of Veterans.
Duckworth, a Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart and lost her legs when her helicopter was hit by an RPG, said this: “The message of our bill is simple: Give our heroes their jobs back. If Republicans really care about our Veterans, they should stop enabling Trump and Musk's chaos and support our legislation.”
Rochester City Councilmember Mary Lupien got into a heated exchange with JD Vance—interrupting his racist rant at an event yesterday.
“Politicians like JD Vance want to distract us by blaming the most vulnerable,” Lupien said afterward. “The truth is, working people—no matter where they were born—are all facing the same fight: a rigged housing system that puts corporate profits over our basic needs. We need leaders who will invest in real solutions, not scapegoat our neighbors.”
Recently, I covered how National Labor Relations Board Member Gwynne Wilcox was reinstated to her position by a judge—after Trump illegally fired her. Just yesterday, as Wilcox returned to the office, she was met with a cheering crowd of elected officials and staffers. It’s great to know we’ll have this champion for working people in this role until August 2028, when her term is up.
Lastly, political columnist Ruth Marcus resigned from The Washington Post after 40 years at the paper, writing that Jeff Bezos’s decisions threaten “to break the trust of readers that columnists are writing what they believe, not what the owner has deemed acceptable.” This is another prime example of how corporate media has turned into a complete cesspool who can’t be trusted.
At The Dworkin Report, we don’t have any billionaires who can refuse to publish what we write. We’re completely independent, pro-democracy journalists, who will never bend the knee to Trump—or his oligarchs.
On top of reporting the news, we have The Watchdog Coalition, which helps us lead the charge against Trump—something we’ve done for 9 years now. Our contact Congress campaign has already sent more than 208,000 letters, and made countless calls to the House and Senate.
Our social media following is one of the largest in all of politics, and we’re using it to fight back against the Musk-Trump regime, every single day. Our recent “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign generated more than a billion impressions, and dominated the trends online. And this week, we’re launching our “Protect Social Security,” and “Defend Veterans” campaigns.
It’s clear momentum is building, but we need all hands on deck.

RON FILIPKOWSKI posted this comment by MARK KELLY:
… After Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) posted a lengthy thread after his trip to Ukraine this week. Musk posted this deranged reply to it: “You are a traitor.”
… What did Kelly post that caused Musk to make such a serious accusation against an Iraq War fighter pilot, astronaut, and Senator? “Just left Ukraine. What I saw proved to me we can’t give up on the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway to Putin. Let me tell you about my trip and why it’s important we stand with Ukraine.”
… “Hospitals should never be targets in war, but Putin is a war criminal who targets hospitals routinely. I visited one in Kyiv. Injured soldiers told me how they want to get back to the fight. Nurses there shared their stories of the invasion with me through tears. Stories of violence that women and children of Ukraine suffered during the invasion. These nurses told me how they witnessed Russian soldiers raping children in front of their parents and then murdering these children in front of their parents. Horrendous war crimes which can never be forgiven. Trump says he trusts Putin and is trying to make him look like a friend and a good guy. I look forward to seeing Putin rot in prison.”
… I met with Ukrainian pilots, one who I had met in AZ when he was learning to fly the F-16. They are flying challenging combat missions against the Russians who are protected by a considerable electronic warfare and surface to air missile system defense. They’ve learned a lot and they are getting better and having more success. When Trump cut off these pilots from US intelligence that they need to plan their missions, he blinded them to the threat and put them and their aircraft at risk. But worse than that, it helps the Russians advance further into Ukrainian territory and murder more Ukrainians. Trump says the Russians are ‘hitting them hard’ in a tone of voice that implies approval. It is sickening to see from an American President. ‘Hitting them hard’ means more dead Ukrainian kids.”
… If we abandon our ally Ukraine, we will be viewed by other countries including our other allies as untrustworthy and in the future we shouldn’t expect their help. As significant as that is, what is a bigger deal is the reaction we would see from China. The Chinese watch everything and they want to take Taiwan. If they view our partnerships and our loyalty to our allies as weak they are more likely to try to take Taiwan by force. If that happens, this President or any future President will have to make one of the most consequential decisions in the history of our country. My goal is to avoid that decision. We avoid that by strengthening our alliances, not weakening them.”
… “The world will become a very cold and lonely place if we continue this ridiculous ‘screw you, go it alone’ foreign policy. It’s dumb and it won’t age well and puts you and your kids and your grandkids at risk. America is the strongest, richest country in the world. We didn’t get there by being bullies like Putin, we got there by leading from the front and bringing our allies. That’s why I’ll continue to share with everyone who will listen why we must keep supporting Ukraine.”
… Kelly later responded to Elon calling him a traitor: “Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”
… People never talk about Mark Kelly as a presidential candidate. I think they should. He would be a fantastic matchup for Democrats against JD Vance - I think he would beat him in Arizona and Georgia, and not many Dems whose names are being tossed around for the nomination could do that.
This is not political, but rather an issue of RUSSIAN BARBARISM!
RUSSIA conducted a MASSACRE IN BUCHA, shooting civilians on the street, torturing & executing Ukrainian civilians, torturing & raping children in front of parents, torturing & raping women.....
bombing hospitals, schools, known sanctuaries.
RUSSIA denied the MASSACRE IN BUCHA but there are videos, satellite reports - RUSSIA LIED!
Bombing Chernobyl & risking repeating a catastrophe they created for their failure to address nuclear safety.
RUSSIA is LOSING & their economy is tanking....along comes TRUMP!
RUSSIA had no troops & made the DEVIL'S BARGAIN with North Korea to provide 'CANNON FODDER' - untrained, ill-equipped troops.
RUSSIA supported ASSAD in SYRIA & was so compromised they were unable to protect the MONSTER that ASSAD collapsed & fled. (It's unclear if RUSSIA let him survive.) There are reports that UKRAINE helped train Syria's resistance. (There are reports that ISRAEL is meddling in the post-Assad government.)
EUROPE withheld RUSSIAN ASSETS to fund UKRAINE...Trump just rescinded RUSSIAN SANCTIONS.
Now Trump is penalizing EUROPE by withholding parts for F16s & removing jamming capabilities, essentially destroying the US MILITARY CONTRACTORS.
Trump has united EUROPE against the US!
IMPORTANT! Call/email the House Republicans and READ to them Georgia Fisanick’s excellent ‘Alternative CR’ (below) that the Democrats should DEMAND NOW to avoid a government shutdown.
I already called Hakeem Jeffries. (202) 225-3121
A CR Democrats Could Vote For
Exposing the Dangers in the Republican CR
GEORGIA FISANICK
MAR 11
Democratic messaging on the continuing resolution is all wrong. You can’t tell scared people that you will “stand fast” to try to preserve things they care about for the long term while gutting them in the short term.
You have to have an alternative that protects them.
The alternative is to say that they will ONLY vote for a CLEAN continuing resolution that:
•runs through September 30, 2025
•has no changes in any of the funding levels that were in Biden’s last budget to protect the social safety net until then
•forbids sequestration of funds so Trump and Vought cannot create a phony emergency to allow them to redirect funds
•forbids illegal impoundments of funds by Trump
•Raises the debt ceiling by only a small fraction of the $4 trillion so Trump cannot get enough to enact the tax cut for billionaires.
Why vote for any version of the CR? BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO SHUT THE GOVERNMENT DOWN AND DO MORE HARM.
Tell the people that!!!
If the Republicans pass their own booby-trapped CR, at least you’ve warned people about what more destruction may be coming down the track.
And you are taking the first step in building a true opposition shadow government. One that makes the alternative positions and policies clear and exposes the hidden attacks on the working people of America in everything that Trump and the oligarchs are doing.
