Dear friend, This story is heartbreaking — but together, we can make sure it never happens again. In 2024, thanks to the tremendous work of the Cascade County Attorney’s office, a Montana woman named Pamela was found guilty of multiple felony counts of animal cruelty. A devastating fire on her property in 2020 led authorities to a horrific discovery: 172 animals suffering in filth, without food or water. Many were too sick or injured to save.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund wasted no time speaking up for the animal victims in this case. We filed an amicus brief with the court, advocating for the removal of the remaining animals from Pamela’s possession. We also provided a $10,000 grant to assist local law enforcement with the costs of caring for and rehabilitating the rescued animals. But, do you know what’s truly shocking? Pamela had a long history of animal cruelty dating back to 1996 — but she continued to acquire animals. This must change.
Right now, most states do not have laws requiring that convicted abusers do not have contact with animals again for a period of time. That means innocent animals remain at risk. But the Animal Legal Defense Fund is fighting to change that — and we need your help, friend.

Pamela was finally sentenced last year, but we cannot let another 172 animals suffer when we have the power to prevent it. Will you donate today to help protect innocent lives?
Your gift is more than a donation — it’s a lifesaving stand against cruelty. Let’s make sure no more animals suffer needlessly. Thank you for your partnership. For the animals, ![]() Zakeia Rodgers Direct Marketing Manager |
