Great News That’s Horrible For Trump

Great News That’s Horrible For Trump

Onward.

Following another week of absolute madness from Trump and Musk, I’m happy to deliver more good news today. I hope it gives you some relief—and shows you there are wonderful people everywhere who are fighting back.

After Trump’s disgraceful PR stunt with Ukrainian President Zelenksy at the White House yesterday, the worldwide response was resoundingly behind Ukraine.

The EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas said: “the free world needs a new leader.” German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said: “Germany together with our European allies stands united alongside Ukraine—and against the Russian aggression.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said: “I think we were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago and to continue to do so.”

Democrats were unanimous in condemning Trump’s treatment of Zelensky, and even a few Republicans spoke out. GOP Rep. Don Bacon called it “a bad day for America’s foreign policy,” saying: “We should stand for Ukraine, freedom and democracy and against the invading bully.” GOP Rep. Mike Lawler stated: “Sadly, the only winner of today is Vladimir Putin.”

During the meeting, Zelensky brutally fact-checked JD Vance in real-time, and repeatedly interrupted Trump’s lies. At the end of it all, Zelensky looked at the press pool and gave a thumbs up with a smile. Zelensky then went on Fox “News” and refused to apologize. Good. Trump is the one who owes an apology—and his resignation—to the world.

Speaking of JD Vance—planned protests forced him to cancel his original hotel booking for a ski trip in Vermont this weekend. Multiple demonstrations are scheduled to go forward today anyway.

In Kentucky, students from 8 universities protested against Trump’s order to end DEI programs. “I think the biggest misconception here is that this is about tilting a playing field,” Political Science Professor David Niven said. “When in reality, it’s about untilting it, making sure that universities are open to all.”

“Tesla Takedown” protests are gaining steam around the country, as hundreds of people marched to Tesla’s Palo Alto, CA headquarters on Friday. Last week, we also saw demonstrations in Charlotte, Ft. Lauderdale, San Francisco, Seattle, and many other cities. It’s estimated that there have been events like these at over 100 locations—including charging stations, showrooms and dealerships—across the world.

MAGA CLOWNS CELEBRATE JAN 6 CRIMINALS?

Following an enormous public outcry, the maga club at The Villages in Florida canceled an event with pardoned Jan 6 rioters—planned for yesterday. Thank you to all the folks who spoke out against this unhinged nonsense.

The Democratic National Committee filed a lawsuit yesterday, blasting Trump’s “illegal executive order ending free and fair elections.” The DNC statement said: “Democrats will use every tool at our disposal, including aggressively confronting Trump’s illegal actions in the courts.”

Lastly, Sen. Bernie Sanders slammed Jeff Bezos for announcing that The Washington Post was going to make its opinion pages essentially more Republican: “This is what Oligarch ownership of the media looks like: The second-richest guy in the world, Bezos, owns WaPo. He has now declared that the editorial page of that paper is going Trump right-wing. Surprise, Mr. Musk agrees. We must support independent media.”

Bernie is right. Corporate media won’t cover these stories the way we do. It’s why we need independent journalists to cut through their nonsense, and give you the truth. Which is exactly what we do at The Dworkin Report.

On top of reporting the news, I also believe it’s our responsibility to fight back against Trump’s tyranny every single day. That’s why we formed our activism arm—The Watchdog Coalition—right after the election.

We run a massive contact Congress campaign, which has already sent more than 187,000 letters, and made countless calls to the House and Senate. Along with our online organizing efforts—like our “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign, which has already garnered close to a billion impressions, and dominated social media trends.

We are starting to build some real momentum, but we need all hands on deck.

100% of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have no billionaires controlling what we say, and no sponsors pushing us to sell snake oil. We are completely independent, democracy-loving journalists—who will never back down to Trump.

So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:

No matter how you subscribe, thanks for having my back. Rest assured that I’ll always have yours.

Onward!

Scott
