Next ICE Arrests: Kids, Teens?
It’s Friday, readers. America has survived another week of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and Today’s American News continues to be your source for news and analysis on the circus that is American politics and entertainment.
Trump immigration move “could mean an increase in arrests of children and teens”... NBC News reports, “The Trump administration is moving forward with restarting the detention of migrant families, including those with young children, which could mean an increase in arrests of children and teens, according to three sources familiar with the planning. The sources said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to publish in the coming days a ‘Request for Proposal’ that will ask private prison companies to bid for contracts to restart detention facilities intended specifically for families.” Meanwhile, NBC News also reports Trump is “angry” deportation numbers are not higher.

Judge rules 2,200 USAID workers can stay put for now in another Trump court loss… “A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to immediately halt its plans to put at least 2,200 employees at the US Agency for International Development on administrative leave tonight. US District Judge Carl Nichols announced the temporary restraining order from the bench hours before the embattled agency was set to put the thousands of employees on indefinite leave or fire them. CNN has reported that the agency planned to keep fewer than 300 people on as essential personnel as of 11:59 p.m. ET Friday.”
Trump and Musk prepare to fire Cybersecurity, Education, Defense, FBI personnel… Politico reports, “Roughly half a dozen employees from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency who once worked in its Election Security and Resilience division were notified Thursday night they were being put on administrative leave…” Also from Politico: Trump said two departments that will soon suffer the wrath of cuts (and therefore firings) from Elon Musk. “Pentagon, education, just about everything,” Trump said today. The Department of Education’s destruction is a long-term goal of the crowd that hates public education. Also, LOL on the Pentagon AKA the Department of Defense. We guarantee that’s one federal government agency Musk will NOT be casually waltzing into. Trump also vowed to fire “some” of the FBI agents who worked on Jan 6 investigations, NBC News reports. Earlier this week, CNN reported the FBI turned over a list of 5,000 names to the Trump White House of those very agents and that many of those employees are suing the Justice Department.

Musk announces planned rehire of minion dismissed yesterday for racist posts… That did not take long. The Associated Press reports, “Elon Musk said on Friday he is re-hiring a staff member at the Department of Government Efficiency who resigned a day earlier after he was linked to social media posts that espoused racism. Musk, in a post on his social media network X, said he would bring back Marko Elez after Vice President JD Vance called for him to be rehired. President Donald Trump later endorsed his vice president’s view. Marko Elez resigned Thursday after The Wall Street Journal linked the 25-year-old DOGE staffer to a deleted social media account on X that posted last year, ‘I was racist before it was cool’ and ‘You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,’ among other posts.”
