OF THESE CLOWNS - MAYBE BEGIN WITH LOUISIANA DUE TO ITS FAILURES
OR THEIR WARPED BIGOT SENATOR JOHN KENNEDY WHO HAS DONE NOTHING
TO ELEVATE HIS STATE OR HIS CONSTITUENTS...HIS SOBRIETY NOW QUESTIONED.
GATHER FACTS BEFORE RANTING OR YOUR IGNORANCE IS REVEALED!
YA JUST GOTTA INFORM YOURSELF!
… Michael Flynn is calling for Trump to cancel his inauguration in DC on January 20 in the wake of the New Orleans attack: “There is too much work to do. Fly Trump Force 1 into DC, land at Andrews AFB, take the oath of office onboard the plane, then fly Marine One from Andrews to the front lawn of the WH and take charge. We need to get to work. Have all the galas you want once we’ve gotten rid of all the illegals, gotten our economy back on track, achieved peace in the Middle East, and made Europe take care of their own defense. These must be accomplished before we start blowing horns and partying all night.”
… No wonder why Flynn hasn’t been appointed to anything yet. There is nothing Trump loves more about being president than being feted. Pomp and parades - as long as he is the one being honored. He would never give those things up, because he cares more about being worshipped than he does about any of the stuff bugging Flynn and MAGA.
… Former MAGA PA Senate candidate Kathy Barnette: “I agree with General Flynn’s assessment that Trump needs to forgo yet another party and get down to brass tacks. Unfortunately, Mar-a-Lago appears to be a nonstop poolside party. Republicans seem incapable of passing up an opportunity to frolic.”
… Sorry I wasn’t able to get the column out yesterday. My routine is that I alternate between 2 hours of research and 2 hours of writing starting at 6:00 AM and continuing throughout the day, but yesterday so many things were happening so fast I just was never able to stop and write. Plus anything I wrote would have been obsolete two hours later as information continued to evolve.
… It was also a day when I had to put my Rapid Response Right-Wing Conspiracy Debunking hat on to be very active on social media playing whack-a-mole with the crazies. Since the Democratic Party only hires people to do that 6 months before elections and surrenders that battleground to Republicans the rest of the time, I feel like someone has to do it for us.
… Or I can wait for Brian Stelter to do it the next day.
… Or Daniel Dale to do it three days later.
… To no audience.
… But what that means is that today is a Super Mega Column so buckle up and hang on!
… Bernie Sanders went after Elon Musk for convincing Trump to change his position in H-1B visas: “Elon Musk is wrong. The main function of the H-1B visa program is not to hire ‘the best and the brightest,’ but rather to replace good-paying American jobs with low-wage indentured servants from abroad. The cheaper the labor they hire, the more money the billionaires make.”
… White nationalist talk show host Stew Peters: “Bernie Sanders is a commie, but even he is more America First than Elon Musk, and it’s not even close.” Strange times.
… Shortly after the New Orleans domestic terrorism incident happened, Fox reported that “sources” told them the truck that was involved had just been driving across the border two days before. This led to an explosion on right-wing social media of accounts blaming “migrant crime,” Joe Biden, and an “open border.” But the entire report was a lie.
… Donald Trump was one of the first to pour gasoline on the fire, posting on Truth Social: “When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true.” As events would prove just a few hours later, it turned out to be a lie.
… Then a bizarre spectacle ensued where Fox later went on the air specifically to debunk Trump’s post, when the basis of his post was a false Fox report: “To be clear, the suspect was born in the US. He served in the Army. He was a veteran. But the former president said ‘criminals coming in’ in his statement, meaning into our country, and that is not accurate.”
… Glad they cleared that up.
… Trump’s flunky son Don Jr. was on social media trying to whip up his anti-immigrant, right-wing mob into a frenzy. He responded to the Fox report suggesting it was a migrant who just crossed the border with this post: “Biden’s parting gift to America - migrant terrorists.”
… Newsmax host Rob Schmitt later deleted this post when new reporting showed he was spreading lies: “Great start to the year. Democrat open border policies welcome a horror show in New Orleans. Don’t expect an apology. They’ll respond with a middle finger, working tirelessly to block immigration reform.”
… Schmitt did not apologize for his false tweet. He just quietly deleted it. But I screen shotted it before he did because I just had a feeling it might not be a migrant. Glad I did.
… All the usual suspects got involved in spreading the lie. Marge Greene: “New Orleans terrorist attacker is said to have come across the border in Eagle Pass TWO DAYS AGO!!! Shut the border down!!!” Then later: “What did we expect would happen with wide open borders and millions of gotaways?”
… After facts came out that it was an American citizen born and raised in Texas who previously served in the Army, a new round of false reporting began suggesting that there were people “acting suspicious” at the scene just prior to the attack who may have been planting IEDs. Maybe there were migrant co-conspirators!
… But that also turned out to be false. They were just people opening coolers looking for beers. The FBI later confirmed that man acted alone and there was no conspiracy involving others. They just wanted beers.
… Morning Joe then bizarrely chose this morning to do a segment criticizing Biden for his handling of the border. MSNBC Economic Analyst Steven Rattner: “The border was not Biden’s finest moment, frankly. You can see what happened here. And Trump is not wrong when he talks about how border crossings were quite low. They’re running about 74,000 a month when he left office and they, in fact, did shoot up. Some of it was some things Biden said and some ways that they put a moratorium, for example, on deportations. But in fact, we did get up here almost to 300,000 a month.”
… Fox contributor Steve Cortes posted that clip. And made it his pinned tweet.
… I have been a critic of Mayorkas’s handling of the border consistently since 2021. I have written articles about it which were both critical of the Biden Admin’s border policy and Trump’s lies and demagoguery about it. I also said for two years that if we lost the 2024 election, the biggest reason was going to be the migrant issue. Trump spent, by far, the most money in ads on “migrant crime” than any other issue.
… With all that said, this was not the day to do that segment.
… Border crossings in 2020 were also “quite low” under Trump because of covid. They were “quite high” in 2019 under Trump though, although admittedly still not nearly as high as any year under Biden.
… A shambolic press conference was conducted shortly after the attack, where the FBI attempted to brief the public, but the female agent conducting the briefing was physically shoved aside by Sen. John Kennedy, who looked and sounded inebriated as he drank out of one of the red plastic Solo cups that are popular at football tailgate parties quickly before hiding it. He continued to ramble nonsense and crack lame jokes while people lay dead and others were in the hospital fighting for their lives.
… LA Governor Jeff Landry was even worse. He seemed most concerned about all the tourists in town who were paying big money to attend the Sugar Bowl. He continued to reiterate that the show must go on while providing zero information to the public about whether they were still in danger. When asked how he could assure fans that they were safe to attend the game, he said the fact that he is attending proves how safe it is. Comforting.
… The game was ultimately postponed for 24 hours, and Landry then posted a photo of himself exiting a restaurant hours after the mass killing in the city smiling broadly while flashing a thumbs up pose with the caption: “Ate dinner tonight in New Orleans. Proud to be a part of this incredibly resilient city. See everyone at the game tomorrow!” Another tone deaf MAGA fool.
… OK Schools Chief Ryan Walters says the people most responsible for these acts of domestic terrorism are … public school teachers. Of course. “You have schools teaching kids to hate their country, saying this country is evil. You have teachers unions pushing this on our kids. We cannot allow our schools to become terrorist training camps.”
… Once it became clear that all their conspiracies about migrants were lies, right-wingers then shifted their attention to blaming the attack on too many Black FBI agents. ‘Libs of TikTok’’s Chaya Raichik: “New Orleans FBI held a recruiting event a few months ago to recruit diverse agents.” The horror!
… Former MAGA congressional candidate and filmmaker Robby Starbuck: “6 months ago the New Orleans FBI office was doing DEI hiring events. Maybe they should have been more focused on hiring the best people who are good at catching terrorists instead?”
… Rep. Dan Meuser: “The priority of the FBI the last 4 years has been DEI, not IEDs. That’s what their focus has been.”
… Sen. Marsha Blackburn posted a photo from the FBI New Orleans from October showing several agents posing with bracelets that Swifties gifted them to wear that day. Marsha: “This is what FBI New Orleans has been doing. Return the FBI to its mission of investigating criminals and terrorists.”
… Rich Groen posted this: “As I process the devastating events that unfolded in NO, I am in utter disbelief. Shamsud-Din Jabbar served under my Troop Command during our deployment to Afghanistan. He worked quietly and professionally in the S1 shop and as a mail clerk, ensuring the little things that kept us all connected to home were done with care and precision. He was a great Soldier, someone who showed discipline and dedication. To think that the same individual who once embodied quiet professionalism could harbor so much hate, leading to such unspeakable atrocities, is incomprehensible and heartbreaking.”
… More Groen: “This transformation is a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked anger, isolation, and hate. Please watch out for one another. Be there for your brothers and sisters in arms, your friends, and even those who seem distant or troubled. Don’t let hate take root—either in your own heart or in the hearts of those around you. We must care for one another before it’s too late. My prayers go out to the victims and their families. May they find strength in this time of unimaginable grief. Let’s honor their memory by ensuring we stand together against hate in all its forms.”
… Then reports came out that a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas. Initial reports were that there were fireworks inside and a couple tanks of gasoline. Police said at their briefings that they did not locate a detonation device and the driver died inside. It was later learned that he was also an American citizen and was still on active duty in the Army, and shot himself in the head before the explosion.
… As of the time this is published, there is still no proof that has been released that this was a “terrorist attack,” that it was intentional, what caused it, or whether it was in some way connected to New Orleans. But naturally, right-wing conspiracy theories were quick to assume all of that was true.
… The Daily Beast is reporting that they have spoken with a family member of the man who drove the truck there and died. The family sources said that the guy was a Republican and “loved Trump.” So, maybe not a terrorist attack?
… But Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan went on Fox today and confidently said that it was a terrorist attack. The Fox host seemed to be a bit taken aback, and noted that no police official said it was terrorism so why would he say that. Q - “Have you been privy to any other information than what we’ve heard from the police?” Homan - “No, it’s just a gut feeling.”
… Somehow I got dragged into their mania. I posted a photo of the exploding Tesla in front of the Trump marquee on the building with the caption: “A real photo and perfect metaphor heading into 2025.”
… That led to an explosion of fake outrage by an all-star cast of deplorables, claiming that my post was “glorifying violence” and “promoting terrorism.” The post received 8,100 replies, 343,000 likes, and 17 million views on X in 24 hours. A minority of the engagement with the post was MAGA, but they made up for that with the intensity of their vitriol. Poor babies.
… The people who attacked me for the post and demanded that I delete it included Charlie Kirk, Tim Pool, Nancy Mace, Scott Presler, Mike Crispi, Christian Collins, and Rogan O’Handley.
… Of course, like all great works of art such as paintings, sculptures, or songs, my post is something which is subject to a variety of interpretations depending on the reader’s point of view. MAGA activist Blake (Brick Suit) Marnell said, “It really is, Ron! They threw everything they had against Trump, and they couldn’t even break the windows.” Exactly, maybe that’s what I meant! I’ll never tell.
… The good news is that I gained a bunch of new followers on X.
… The bad news is that they all want to kill me.
… Meanwhile, Musk attempted to turn the incident into an opportunity to sell more Cybertrucks: “The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck is the worst possible choice for a car bomb, as its stainless steel armor will contain the blast better than any other commercial vehicle. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.”
… Good to know. If anyone is in the market for a vehicle that will remain intact if you blow yourself up inside of it, Elon has the perfect one for you.
… Christian Ziegler, the disgraced former FL GOP Chair and husband of Moms for Liberty founder Brigette, was still concerned about media reports that suggested maybe a malfunction with the Cybertruck caused the explosion: “As a Tesla shareholder, I’m concerned about my investments taking a hit from the lies being pushed by legacy media.” They said I was insensitive with my post. This guy’s first concern is his portfolio.
… Tesla stock was down 6.08% today.
… Apparently, Musk was concerned about that as well. Robby Starbuck: “Honestly, Elon Musk should consider suing outlets who framed the story like this. These headlines are sabotaging Tesla’s brand by making people think it caught on fire.”
… Musk responded: “Maybe it is time to do so.”
… Sen. Mike Lee: “On no planet did the Tesla truck simply catch fire. It was loaded up with explosives and detonated.”
… Republicans are also using these incidents as an excuse to put added pressure on the Senate to confirm all of Trump’s nominees immediately without thorough vetting or background checks. One of those nominees, Mike Waltz, was on Fox today: “This is why getting Trump’s Cabinet in is so important. We need Noem at DHS, Kash Patel at FBI, Pete Hegseth at DOD, Marco Rubio at State and Ratcliffe at CIA, and Tulsi Gabbard at DNI. They have to be in place Day 1 because this is a moment of vulnerability.”
… They are also calling for DHS Secretary Mayorkas and FBI Director Wray to be immediately hauled in front of the Senate. Josh Hawley in a letter to Rand Paul: “When the 119th Congress convenes next week and you assume leadership of the Homeland Security Committee, I urge you to immediately call Mayorkas and Wray to publicly testify prior to their departure from office.” He said that he wants “a full account” from them about the incidents.
… Sen. Chuck Schumer made a surprise announcement that he is endorsing Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler for DNC Chair. Schumer putting his thumb on the scale a month before the election on Feb 1 with the other endorsements Wikler has gotten likely makes him the favorite to win at this point. I stay out of these things, but I went and watched his campaign video on his social media page and it is very impressive. Plus he follows me, so that’s good too!
… Senate Democrats also released the complete list of Senators who will serve as Ranking Members of Committees: Agriculture-Klobuchar. Banking-Warren. Energy-Heinrich. Environment & Public Works-Whitehouse. Foreign Relations-Shaheen. Aging-Gillibrand. Budget-Merkley. Joint Economic Committee-Hassan. Rules-Padilla. Small Business-Markey. Veterans-Blumenthal.
… Lauren Boebert seems a bit annoyed that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are hogging her spotlight. She told Piers Morgan: “It’s a little frustrating to me at times to have this DOGE Commission. It’s frustrating because having this oversight and accountability and looking into the spending of tax dollars and all these federal agencies - we used to call that Congress.”
… The Constitution requires that an election be held to choose a new Speaker at noon on January 3. The House cannot conduct any other official business until a Speaker is elected by a majority.
… It appears that almost all of the holdouts opposed to Mike Johnson have fallen in line after intense lobbying and Trump’s endorsement. Johnson said on a radio show that Trump was going to wait to endorse Johnson until right before J3, but Johnson asked him to do it sooner when as many as 20 Republicans announced that were opposing him. That was probably the first time Johnson made a strategic decision that proved to be right.
… Things are looking very dicey for Johnson on this vote, with reporters on Capitol Hill each reporting different things. Some say everyone will likely fall in line to elect Johnson, with others saying he doesn’t have the votes.
… Johnson must receive a majority of votes from the total number of Representatives who cast ballots. If everyone is there and casts ballots, then Johnson needs 218. There are 219 Republicans, and Thomas Massie is a definite no. That is a problem for Johnson.
… The Republican majority will get even smaller in a couple of weeks when Rep. Mike Waltz (FL) and Elise Stefanik (NY) are confirmed by the Senate to their appointments in the Trump Admin. Waltz’s seat will then be vacant until a special election is held on April 1. A special election cannot be set yet under NY law for the Stefanik seat until she resigns from Congress. It then must be set 80-90 days from that date.
… Johnson would have gotten a little help if Nancy Pelosi was still stuck in a German hospital after hip replacement surgery, but she announced this morning that she was on a plane flying back to DC and would be there for the vote tomorrow. I wish I could’ve been there to see Johnson’s face when he was told the news that Pelosi was
on her way back today right out of a German hospital after major surgery just to vote against him.
… Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) went after his colleague Chip Roy, who has also been an outspoken critic of Johnson. Van Orden said that once Trump endorsed Johnson, that should have been the end of dissent: “Trump received a mandate from the American people in November. Chip Roy did not. It is the America First agenda, not the Chip Roy First agenda. Trump is fighting for America. Chip is fighting to keep his brand marketable.”
… Johnson was sounding confident today after meeting with some of his critics. He told CNN: “I think this is going to turn out well tomorrow. We’ll stay unified and get this done.”
… Honestly, as much as I’d like to watch another clown show from Republicans like their last two Speaker election debacles, a weak and feckless dope like Mike Johnson is probably the best Republican Speaker that Democrats could hope for in the MAGA era.
… The House Rules Committee has sent 12 bills to the Majority Leader that are ready to more forward to the House. These include bills to:
Ban people born as biological males from women’s sports.
Require Homeland Security to deport any migrant charged with theft, sex crimes, or assaults on police.
Any local government that provides any assistance or benefits to migrants will be stripped of all federal funding.
Make it a crime for any person to flee an immigration official in a vehicle.
Require healthcare providers to provide care to a fetus “who survives an attempted abortion.”
Sanction the International Criminal Court if it makes any attempt to prosecute a US citizen for anything.
Mandate that local elections officials require all voters to show proof that they are a US citizen before voting or registering to vote.
Increase penalties for fentanyl possession and distribution.
Lift all bans on fracking.
… Trump claimed in a new interview that he “never opposed” the H1-B program despite the fact that he has ALWAYS opposed the program in the past and only changed his mind recently after intense pressure from President Musk, who hasn’t left Trump’s side since the election. MeidasTouch posted a video montage of Trump stating he was adamantly opposed to the H1-B visa program in 2016 and then again in 2020, and said he wanted to completely abolish the program because it was “a scam.”
… Right-wingers irate at Trump for changing his position and siding with Musk then began posting our Meidas video montage of Trump lying, and they weren’t happy with him. Some of their captions included: “This isn’t what I voted for.” “LOL. Get fucked.” “What a disappointment, and a total sellout.”
… Just before the New Year’s party at MAL, Don Jr was on his podcast griping about how horrible it was going to be: “I get to be around a thousand drunk people giving me their political opinions that I don’t necessarily want to hear. By about midnight when everyone’s like 12 beers deep or whatever it is they’re drinking... it’s not for me. This’ll be like year 9 of, ‘Hey, have you ever thought to maybe have your dad not tweet that?’ I’m like, ‘No, I’ve never thought that because I’m a freaking imbecile.’”
… At least Junior has some self-awareness on that point.
… President Biden announced that he is awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney for their service on the J6 Committee. He will also award Mary Bonauto, the attorney who won the Obergefell case before the Supreme Court which made gay marriage a constitutional right, and former Senators Chris Dodd and Ted Kaufman.
… Former Rep. Barney Frank once said that Bonauto was “the gay community’s Thurgood Marshall.”
… Rep. Andy Biggs responded to the announcement: “Joe Biden is sullying the nation's second highest civilian honor. The Presidential Citizens Medal is not for those who led a made-for-TV sham committee abetting the weaponized DOJ's targeting of conservatives.”
… Almost all of Trump’s Presidential Medal of Freedoms went to professional athletes, coaches, Republican politicians, and mega-donors. Like 95%.
… The debut of the ‘The Matt Gaetz Show’ is tonight on OAN. His first guests are Lauren Boebert, Thomas Massie, and Victoria Spartz. Quite a lineup.
… JD Vance weighed in on Elon Musk’s OpEd endorsing the German white nationalist Nazi-sympathizing AfD party: I’m not endorsing a party in the German elections, as it’s not my country and we hope to have good relations with all Germans. But this is an interesting piece. American media slanders AfD as Nazi-lite, but AfD is most popular in the same areas of Germany that were most resistant to the Nazis.
… Fresh off that OpEd in the German newspaper, President Musk is now demanding that UK white nationalist leader Tommy Robinson be immediately released from prison. Robinson was sentenced to 18 months in jail this past October after pleading guilty to posting defamatory videos about a 16-year old refugee student which falsely accused him of assaulting girls in school. The videos led to death threats against the student and his family and anti-immigrant riots across the UK.
… Robinson was sued for defamation and lost. He was ordered by the court to cease and desist, but continued to post more false videos in defiance of the court. SO he was finally found in contempt of court and jailed. Naturally, he is now an international white nationalist hero, with Elon Musk as one of his fans.
… Charlie Kirk: “If the UK won’t free Tommy Robinson willingly then the US should begin exerting economic and diplomatic pressure to force the issue.”
… Sen. Mike Lee: “The UK must free Tommy Robinson. If it doesn’t, there must be consequences.”
… The United States should sanction our closest ally UK because a white nationalist violated a court order in a defamation case. Makes sense.
… MAGA drone hysteria is back. After things finally died down where they claimed that either an alien or Chinese invasion was happening in New Jersey, CPAC President Matt Schlapp was back posting that there were unusual lights in the sky above his how in Virginia: “This is not normal.” He then followed that up two hours later with this: “Well, I’m learning this is Starlink. I’m happy because we are customers and it works fantastically.” What a relief.
… Rep. Dan Crenshaw continues to get in fights with MAGA. This time it was with country music singer John Rich and Trump Advisor Alex Bruesewitz. Rich agreed with Alex’s post that Speaker Johnson should remove Crenshaw from the House Intel Committee: “Recent public outbursts and apparent alcohol-fueled rage posts, targeting many of President Trump's most ardent supporters, demonstrate a clear lack of the necessary temperament for handling sensitive national security issues. We need composed and stable leaders in critical positions, not those prone to volatility and instability. Many members of the House GOP possess the necessary traits to serve effectively on this committee, but Dan is clearly not among them.”
… Rich then said Crenshaw should be given regular breathalyzer tests if he remains on the committee. Crenshaw responded: “Another useless comment from a one hit wonder while families are mourning. Sit this one out John. Stop looking for attention in a time like this.”
… Then Rich: “Hey Dan, remember when you offered this one hit wonder a boat load of cash to play your rally and I told your people to kick rocks?” And Dan: “lol I remember when I was invited to YOUR event at UNC in September and your free concert couldn’t even draw a good crowd.” Good to know the Republican Party is filled with Very Serious People.
… NY Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, who RFK Jr asked to serve as his running-mate but was rejected by his good pal and fellow conspiracy theorist, said that this weekend may be his last game of his NFL career. The Jets are currently 4-12. Rodgers lives in NJ now, so maybe he can jump into the Governor’s race.
… There are now Gen Xers who are 60 years old as of yesterday. To commemorate, these soft kids today should drink out of a hose and run around the neighborhood all night with my friends with no adult supervision, then have their moms say they thought they were in their room the entire time.
