Chickens in the Snow

Chickens in the Snow

Friday morning, after it snowed—2 inches, which in Alabama is a lot—I trudged down to the coop with fresh water and treats, and I opened the door to the covered run. I waited, but no one came out. They looked at me like I was mad. So I spread out the treats on their tables inside, and let them be.

This morning, I got a different reaction. A little trepidation, but a few brave chickens finally ventured out.

They seemed confused.

But there was a little bit of tentative exploration.

And then there was Clementine, who decided snow was not her jam.

So she spent some time inside with us this morning. She tried, but failed, to make a new friend.

Juliet was not one bit interested.

I’ll be back tomorrow night with The Week Ahead, or sooner, of course, if we hear anything from the Eleventh Circuit.

We’re in this together,

Joyce
