Fox Uses Jimmy Carter’s Passing to Concoct Fake Biden ControversyI'm not surprised, I'm just disgustedLast night, I was thinking about our loss of former President Jimmy Carter, while analyzing corporate media’s coverage of his passing. I saw so many wonderful tributes, before I ran into this outrageous Fox “News” front page headline: “Biden jabs Trump over what he could learn from former President Carter as he shares favorite memory.” As if that wasn’t bad enough, this morning they updated the title to: “Biden uses former President Jimmy Carter's death to criticize Trump in a verbal spar.” I’m sure their audience is clutching their cheap looking, overpriced Ivanka Trump pearl necklaces, with fake gold-plated outrage. Normally I wouldn’t waste time on Fox, but this twisted takeaway has been their main “story” for more than 12 hours now—and it’s already starting to spread. So I want to put an end to it. First of all, President Biden did not jab or criticize Trump. Joe was asked what Trump should take away from Jimmy Carter’s legacy, and here’s the quote that Fox printed from his answer: “Decency, decency, decency…Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?” Those little dots there, that’s where Biden said, “everybody deserves a shot. Everybody.” But Fox left that part out. And Joe used the word “decency” to describe Carter earlier in his brief words about him. It wasn’t something he reserved for Trump. Fox and all of the fake maga politicians out there praising Carter now, have been critical of him for years. They emulate absolutely nothing that Jimmy taught us. These are the same folks that joke about people dying, and twist their legacies into pretzels. So yes, Biden’s absolutely right that Jimmy Carter could teach Trump and his Fox maga cult about decency—if they ever cared to learn. But there was no “spar” with Trump the way the story was told. Jimmy Carter was a great person and he will be missed. I’m glad to see he’s getting the respect he deserves from most. But I refuse to let anyone use his passing to create fake controversy, and sully his name with cheap spins. Even expected ones from the lowlifes at Fox. RIP Jimmy Carter. Thank you for everything you did to truly make our country and world better. Onward, Scott |
