Happy Veterans Day.
I wanted to reach out to express my deep gratitude to the brave folks who have served our country in uniform.
I know that many joined for the same reasons I did — a deep love of America and a desire to give back to the country that invested so much in us.
The military represents much of what makes our country so remarkable. When we swear the oath and put on the uniform, our loyalty to our country and each other comes first. The mission comes first and any partisan division or discrimination is checked at the door.
Our veterans risked their lives and made sacrifices on behalf of this country we love. Yet when they return, often with deep scars, physical and emotional, too often our government fails to live up to its promises.
We owe it to our veterans to make sure they have strong health care, access to housing, and strong benefits for their family. Fighting for our veterans and military families will be a top priority for me and my office in Congress.
I promise I will always put country and Constitution first — over any person or political party.
Thank you for the chance to serve our nation once again.
