The election of Donald Trump increases the threats of even greater violence against Palestinians and wider war with Iran.
Trump has told Netanyahu to “do what you have to do” on the battlefield.1 “I think he’s basically going to give Netanyahu a blank check,” said former defense secretary Leon Panetta.2
Senator Bernie Sanders is introducing legislation to block a $20 billion sale of weapons to Israel. Congress must make it law before it’s too late.
Despite a year of devastating violence against the Palestinian people and Netanyahu’s continued rejection of peace agreements, the U.S. government is still sending weapons to Israel. And U.S. support for whatever Netanyahu wants to do will be even stronger with Trump in office.
Over 43,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s onslaught on Gaza — even so-called humanitarian zones are not safe for civilians. If our leaders want to end this war, stop a wider war with Iran, and halt the murder of so many innocent people, the Biden administration and Congress must act right now.
Thanks for taking action,
