The right isn’t stopping with dominating the media—they’re coming for the public schools, too.
Earlier this year, COURIER’s Arizona newsroom, The Copper Courier, was the first to expose PragerU’s partnership with Arizona schools. Now, the same dangerous agenda is spreading to other states, infiltrating classrooms with right-wing propaganda and Christian nationalist teachings.
Parents deserve to know when their schools are being infiltrated by right-wing propaganda—and COURIER is here to expose it.
Here’s what’s happening:
- In Texas, the state school board approved a curriculum that teaches kids as young as four “the order of creation,” including that the world was made in six days. The Texas Freedom Network says it “verges on Christian proselytism.”
- In Oklahoma, the state superintendent announced plans to require public schools to “incorporate the Bible.” After Trump’s win, he proudly held up a “Trump Bible,” vowing to stand against the “woke mob.”
- In Louisiana, lawmakers passed a law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public schools.
While other newsrooms are shrinking or shifting rightward, COURIER’s teams are on the ground uncovering important local stories. Our 11 state-based newsrooms don’t just report the facts—they confront the disinformation spreading through battleground communities and empower voters with the truth.
We know the Christian right’s infiltration into our schools isn’t an isolated issue—it’s part of a long-term strategy to reshape our institutions and normalize extremism. We can stop this agenda by bringing trusted, pro-democracy news directly to vulnerable communities, but we can’t do it without your help.
