It is looking more and more like the Republican Chair of the House Ethics Committee tipped off Gaetz and Trump that the report on Gaetz's sex scandal when released would be very bad for him, and that he should immediately resign to try to avoid the fallout. That led Trump to nominate him as AG for cover, knowing that he would never survive the furor over the report.
