The Rio Grande LNG project — a proposed facility for exporting methane gas in Brownsville, TX — is one of the most controversial gas projects in North America:
Here’s the bottom line: The Rio Grande LNG project would damage our environment, climate, and Indigenous rights. But it can’t be built without insurance, and that’s where you can make a difference: Indigenous leaders, other local organizers, and national environmental groups have succeeded in delaying or ending plans for gas export facilities along the Gulf Coast. And our collective action has already convinced another major insurer, Chubb, to rule out support for the project. So we know that, if we all work together, it is possible to stop the Rio Grande LNG project, protect Gulf Coast communities, and move away from destructive methane gas. Thanks for taking action, Rick (he/him) |
