Trump's $100k watch scam

Courier

Yesterday, Donald Trump announced the release of his new line of watches, including one for the insane price of $100,000.

You may have noticed that Trump has spent his 2024 presidential run selling Trump and MAGA branded sneakers, cologne, cryptocurrency, trading cards, and even bibles

Selling campaign merchandise is nothing new. In the 1970s, Gerald Ford sold personalized leather helmets to remind his supporters that he was once a football standout at the University of Michigan.

But here’s the thing  – none of Trump’s merchandise sales are going to his campaign, instead, it will go to him and his family.

Rather than an entity to, you know, help him or Republicans win political races, Trump’s campaign exists largely as a way for the former president to make himself even richer and pay off his massive legal debts.

Unlike Kamala Harris and Joe Biden whose campaigns have given tens of millions to help down-ballot Democrats, Trump has done next to nothing for Republicans this fall.

Punchbowl News reported this week that Trump has yet to appear at a major fundraising event for the National Republican Congressional Committee, which works to elect Republicans to the House.

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee, now controlled by Trump’s family and other MAGA diehards, hasn’t given any money to the NRCC this cycle. Trump hasn’t given them anything, either.

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Trump’s campaign is solely about furthering his interests and keeping himself out of jail. Well before he rose to the highest office, Trump was known as a con man and a scam artist in his business dealings.
