Something does not seem right about the new Hunter Biden indictment

A troubling disconnect has emerged in the handling of the investigation into Hunter Biden's alleged tax crimes. After investigating Hunter Biden for years, the US Attorney for Delaware (now Special Counsel), David Weiss, determined that the appropriate plea offer for Hunter Biden was two misdemeanor tax crimes and a sentence of probation. Hunter Biden accepted the plea offer, went into court and pleaded guilty in accordance with the prosecutions plea offer. Through no fault of Hunter Biden, the guilty plea fell apart. Now, Hunter Biden has been indicted on nine federal charges, including multiple felonies, and is facing up to 17 years in prison. This video discusses the the ways prosecutors assess what plea offer to extend to a defendant and why there is a troubling disconnect between a plea offer to two misdemeanors and probations, versus a subsequent indictment to crimes carrying up to 17 years in prisons. Somewhere along the line, someone took their eye off the justice ball.
