Our health care system is simply not working.
Equity in our health care *must* be a major priority for Congress. Disparities in our health care system are systemic, and we have to fight them with a wide variety of approaches. From increasing the number of Black physicians, to opening more hospitals in underserved communities, there is much more that can be done.
We need more investment and more legislation to make change on the fronts of mental health care and maternal health care, both of which disproportionately affect Black people and other marginalized communities.
We're talking about deconstructing a system built on racism and colonization, and that will take one thing above all else: Voting the right people into office.
These solutions are in reach, but it requires having the majority in the House and Senate that will be brave enough to take them on. So I have to ask.....
Thank you for being part of this movement for change.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
