Jared Kushner's company busted hiding funds from Saudi Arabia

Immediately after leaving the White House, Jared Kushner created a $2.5 billion private equity firm largely funded by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — conveniently listed simply as a "non-United States person" in filing documents — in a damning-yet-somehow-completely-legal money-laundering scheme.

Take Action: Demand the Justice Department investigate Jared Kushner for shady investments from the Saudis!

Republicans clash with prosecutors over enforcement of abortion bans
GOP lawmakers hellbent on forcing reproductive choices on their constituents are growing increasingly frustrated by progressive district attorneys who have publicly pledged not to bring charges under their state’s draconian abortion laws. Unsatisfied with the results of their radical assault on reproductive freedom, Republican lawmakers are now pushing legislation to either bypass the local prosecutors or kick them out of office if their abortion-related enforcement is deemed too lenient.

Steve Bannon ran up huge legal bills and stiffed his lawyers
In news that will shock precisely no one, the radical, white-nationalist blowhard and noted Trump whisperer has refused to pay the lawyers who spent years defending him against an onslaught of criminal charges. Running up massive bills and stiffing people on the payroll... Hmmm, where have we heard that one before?

The College Board slams Florida for what it calls "slander" of AP Black history course
In a better-late-than-never statement released over the weekend, the national education nonprofit acknowledged it should have more quickly addressed claims by Gov. Ron DeSantis and his political goons that the course was indoctrinating students and lacked educational value, which the College Board called "slander." The organization went further, criticising Republicans in Florida for falsely and retroactively taking credit for curriculum changes they had no part in implementing.

Anti-war voices accuse Super Bowl of "hijacking the Pat Tillman story"

Advocates of peace, truth, and basic human decency on Sunday excoriated the NFL's "whitewashing" of former Arizona Cardinal and Army Ranger Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan by so-called "friendly fire" and the military's subsequent cover-up — critical details omitted from last night's glowingly patriotic Super Bowl salute.

House Democrats urge Biden administration to rid Hyundai supply chain of child labor
Democratic lawmakers implored the US Labor Department "to take immediate action to rid Hyundai's supply chain of child labor and hold those responsible to the fullest extent of the law" after a Reuters investigation revealed that dozens of kids as young as 12 years old — most of them Central American migrants — were working in American factories supplying the Korean auto giant. The call from congressional Democrats comes amid a surge in child labor violations — and as Republican state lawmakers seek to roll back over a century of child labor protections.

Mississippi cops fatally shot a 15-year-old in the head. Four months later, they haven’t released the video
15-year-old Jaheim McMillan was shot in the head by police outside a Family Dollar store in Gulfport, Mississippi, last October. Eyewitness accounts and the official police story predictably don't align. Despite mounting pressure and calls for transparency, the city STILL has not released body-cam footage of the incident or even named the officer who pulled the trigger. Wonderful.

HATE GROUPS DO NOT BELONG IN SUPER BOWL ADS! RELIGION DOES NOT BELONG IN SUPER BOWL ADS! WHO IS FUNDING THIS FASCIST HATE?

Group behind "Jesus is Us" Super Bowl ad also funds anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ hate groups
Despite publicly promoting “the Jesus of radical forgiveness, compassion, and love,” the Kansas-based Servant Foundation has spent more than $50 million supporting the Alliance Defending Freedom, an anti-LGBTQ hate group that helped draft the 2018 Mississippi abortion law that led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade and is currently leading a new Supreme Court campaign to allow businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ+ Americans.

US jets down 4 objects in 8 days, unprecedented in peacetime
A US fighter jet shot down an “unidentified object” over Lake Huron on Sunday on orders from President Biden, the fourth such downing in eight days and the latest military strike in an extraordinary chain of events over US airspace that Pentagon officials say has no peacetime precedent.

tRump is a meaningless footnote!

When can we ignore this misfit?

Trump declares Rihanna "the single worst Halftime Show in Super Bowl history"

The disgraced ex-president is apparently still mad about the time that Rihanna painted "F*ck Trump" on a car and complained bitterly about the halftime show on TruthSocial, even going as petty as to complain about her "Stylist!" What a rude boy.

Today’s Action: Tell Congress to do MORE to reduce gun violence!

During his stirring State of the Union last week, President Biden repeatedly implored Congress to “finish the job” on a host of long-standing issues facing the country, from implementing police reform to passing comprehensive immigration policy, codifying reproductive rights to making healthcare more equitable for all, and more. One intractable issue we haven’t even begun to tackle, though — gun violence — remains stuck in the proverbial muck, to the delight of gun-obsessed Republicans. We must finally begin the job of curbing unspeakable — and preventable — gun violence and pass real, meaningful gun safety reform supported by a clear majority of Americans.

In the first month of 2023, there were nearly 40 mass shootings throughout the country. Yes, you read that right. That’s more than any other January since the Gun Violence Archives began keeping such records in 2014. It’s unacceptable that after so much loss, our elected officials still haven’t managed to advance any meaningful anti-gun violence legislation through Congress. In the United States it is still legal to own an AR-15, the very killing machine that has been used time and time again to murder and maim innocent Americans en masse. AR-15s were used in the mass murders at Sandy Hook, Parkland, Aurora, Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, San Bernardino, the Poway synagogue, the Tree of Life synagogue, the Buffalo supermarket, Uvalde…the list goes on and on — and will continue to do so unless we finally do something about it.

Call (202.224.3121) or email your representatives and demand Congress immediately take action to ban AR-15s and other assault rifles!

Once the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) signed into law by President Clinton in 1994 expired in 2004, the number of deaths in mass shootings skyrocketed. Assault rifles are specifically designed to kill on the battlefield; there is no reason they should ever be in civilian hands.

There were 735 mass shootings in the United States last year, up from 693 in 2021. Excluding suicide, there were 20,726 gun deaths in 2021, as well. According to the Washington Post, a child is shot every hour in America. We simply cannot stand idly by and let 2023 continue this horrific trend. The cause of this problem is clear — it’s the guns!

Call (202.224.3121) or email your representatives to demand Congress ban assault weapons immediately!
