Biden's voluntary request for DOJ search of his Wilmington home turns up six more classified documents
President Biden's personal attorney, Bob Bauer, announced the search late last night and indicated some of the documents discovered date back to Biden's time as a senator, while others were from his time as vice president. The revelation of additional classified documents found in Biden's personal possession is obviously troubling and worthy of a thorough investigation, but it's important to note our sitting president has fully and actively cooperated with the DOJ in the ongoing investigation, including personally requesting yesterday's DOJ search without a warrant — a far cry from the debacle that unfolded at Mar-a-Lago last year and Donald Trump's monthslong effort to obstruct justice.

Given that Republicans are currently threatening to tank the global economy unless Democrats agree to drastically reduce social investment, Manchin's unilateral call for appeasement has set off alarm bells. "The last thing we need is another commission to propose cuts to Social Security and Medicare," Sanders noted.

Atlanta protest over police killing of activist turns violent
Protesters amassed in downtown Atlanta on Saturday night in the wake of the shooting death of an environmental activist who was killed this week after authorities claim the 26-year-old shot and wounded a state trooper "without warning." The victim, a nonbinary person who went by the name Tortuguita, was shot and killed by police after they allegedly fired at police, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Activists have questioned officials' version of events, calling it a "murder" and demanding an independent investigation. According to the GBI, the incident was not recorded on body cameras. How convenient.
5 Memphis police officers promptly fired after traffic stop leads to hospitalization, death of Tyre Nichols
Five Memphis police officers were fired Friday after the chief said they violated multiple department policies, including use of excessive force, duty to intervene, and duty to render aid in the fatal Jan. 7 traffic stop of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols. Nichols, a FedEx employee who was initially pulled over for reckless driving, died three days later from severe physical injuries he suffered during the incident.

A top Border Patrol official resigned after allegedly pressuring female employees for sex
Tony Barker, a top official at the US Border Patrol, abruptly resigned in October after disturbing allegations came to light that he pressured a subordinate employee to perform sexual favors. Unsurprisingly, other women have since made similar allegations that they were victimized by Barker as well. A 21-year veteran of the force, Barker is denying the accusations and claims he simply left his job to spend time with his family and focus on other opportunities.

White House chief of staff Ron Klain, who has spent more than two years as President Joe Biden’s top aide, is preparing to leave his job in the coming weeks, the first Cabinet member to depart since Biden took office in early 2021.
