We wanted to make sure you didn’t miss all this news.
Last month, Real Justice-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg threw out 188 misdemeanor convictions, with most of these cases involving young Black men who had their lives RUINED by dishonest officers.
These misdemeanors were tied to eight former NYPD officers who abused their power and have themselves been convicted for perjury, selling drugs, and performing illegal searches.
This is why we do this work to elect DAs like Alvin who work to right the wrongs of our racist system of mass incarceration.
In the case we highlighted earlier this year, we are seeing some justice!
Former San Antonio Officer James Brennand shot an innocent 17-year-old named Erik Cantu in a McDonald’s parking lot.
Officer Brennand has now been indicted on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted murder.
If we didn’t go ALL OUT to re-elect San Antonio DA Joe Gonzales earlier this year, Brennand could very well have gotten away with this and Cantu’s charges may have not been dropped.
We need to share this kind of work with you to show how powerful your involvement in this work is.
Every time you speak out and act with us, every time you donate, every time you call an elected official or sign a petition.
You are helping pack on the pressure to get results like what we saw in San Antonio, holding guilty cops accountable.
You’re helping elect leaders like Alvin Bragg and Joe Gonzales who are going to change people’s lives and bring them justice.
And now we need your help to continue our work in this beginning stage of our 2023 work, as we prepare to identify more justice-minded prosecutors to support so we can continue sharing this kind of news. Help fund that work by making a donation today!
Ready to get to work,
