Midterm election years are notoriously difficult for the party in power in November. Corporate Democrats in the House and Senate have failed to deliver for the people — and Bernie is ringing the alarm in Politico.
The article says, “Bernie Sanders has something to get off his chest: Without a course correction, he sees the Democratic Party on track to get shellacked this fall.”
This is the reality after corporate Democrats failed to pass Biden’s Build Back Better Act, meaningful investments in the fight against climate change, real health care policy, guaranteed paid sick and medical leave…the list goes on.
Our mission at Justice Democrats is to elect progressive fighters to Congress like Summer Lee, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, and grow the Squad. Because change will only happen if we have leaders willing to fight the status quo and prioritize the people over corporate profits.
Can you donate $10 today to help us transform the Democratic Party? We must elect more working-class fighters for the people, not just the same corporate Democrats who fail to deliver for the people.
Bernie also said, “You really can’t win an election with a bumper sticker that says: 'Well, we can’t do much, but the other side is worse.'”
It’s true! The main argument Democrats are making for November is that the GOP is worse. The GOP is much worse, but that doesn’t win elections when you’re the party in power. Democrats in Congress need to deliver material benefits to people by, at a bare minimum, lowering health care costs, bolstering the social safety net, empowering workers, canceling student debt, and fighting climate change.
Without these things, Democrats will likely lose the majority in November.
There was hope when Democrats took the White House and majorities in the House and Senate for the first time in a decade — hope that leaders in the party would see the current crises facing so many people in the country, the crisis facing our planet, and would act. But we’ve seen very little action, Frank.
You know we can’t do this alone and you know so much is on the line. Thank you for fighting alongside us.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
