Speaker Nancy Pelosi is backing anti-abortion Henry Cuellar in TX-28.
Cuellar was the ONLY Democrat in the U.S. House to vote against abortion protections last year AND he received an award from the March for Life — an extreme right-wing anti-abortion group.
Justice Democrats is backing Jessica Cisneros in TX-28, the candidate that will always fight to protect abortion rights. We need all the grassroots support we can get, right now, to defeat conservative, anti-abortion, Pelosi-backed Henry Cuellar on May 24.
Can you fuel our fight to defeat Henry Cuellar? We need to show the Democratic Party that we won’t settle for the same conservative corporate anti-abortion incumbents.
News of the draft SCOTUS opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, makes this headline even more confounding:
How can a Democratic leader like Pelosi support an anti-abortion candidate? A core position of the party is the right to choose. So, why is Pelosi supporting a Democrat that voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified Roe v. Wade into law?
By backing Cuellar, Democratic House leadership and Nancy Pelosi show how out of touch they are with Democratic voters. We must ensure that we defeat anti-abortion Democrats, and we must ensure our leaders support pro-choice candidates.
