Rocah A two-month-old kitten allegedly was hit on the head with a nail  clipper by a trusted veterinarian who then jammed the clipper into  the cat’s mouth,  causing a serious mouth laceration, according to  the Yonkers Times. The veterinarian also reportedly kicked a 3-legged senior German  Shepherd in the chest and jaw and twisted the dog’s ear,  punched  a tiny Chihuahua, and choked a Shih Tzu to the point of near  unconsciousness, according to news reports. Veterinarian Javier Diaz has been charged with six counts of animal  cruelty, assault, and forgery, after an investigation involving the SPCA- Westchester and the Westchester District Attorney’s Office reportedly  found Diaz abused animals six times over a little more than a two-week  period, Newsweek reported. Diaz also allegedly punched a Shiba Inu in the ribs, twisted a Labrador  retriever’s paws, and falsified vaccination records, according to the  investigation. Veterinarians take an oath to protect animals’ health and welfare, and  these beloved companion animals deserve justice. Brutality against  innocent animals must never be tolerated. VETERINARIAN IN ELMSFORD ARRESTED FOR SIX COUNTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY, ASSAULT AND FORGERY April 29, 2022 SPCA Westchester announced today that their Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE), under the direction of Ernest Lungaro and Elmsford Detective Paul Rescigno and Detective Robert Caralyus, in a joint investigation and with the assistance of the Westchester District Attorney’s Office, arrested Veterinarian Javier Diaz, DMV, 46, the owner of Main Street Animal Hospital.  Dr. Diaz was charged with Forgery 2nd degree, Six counts of animal cruelty and assault 3rd degree. The investigation of Main Street Animal Hospital located at 33 E. Main Street, Elmsford, NY revealed that between April 09, 2022 and April 27, 2022 Diaz gave a certificate of a rabies vaccination and charged a pet owner without actually administering the NYS required vaccination.  He also physically abused pets that were brought into the Main Street Animal Hospital on six occasions.  A two-month-old kitten was hit on the head with a nail clipper designed to cut dog’s nails and then jammed the nail clipper into the cat’s mouth causing the kitten to suffer unjustifiably and to sustain a laceration to its gum and palate.  A Shiba Inu dog was punched in the ribs.  A Labrador Retriever had his front paw twisted and a nail clipper jabbed in his ribs causing the dog to cry out in pain. The dog was then kicked in the ribs. Diaz, while treating a three-legged senior German Shepherd dog, kicked the dog in the chest and then twisted and pulled the dog’s ear that was being treated for an ear infection so hard that the dog screamed incessantly.  He then kicked the dog a second time in its jaw causing the dog to jerk its head backwards striking a veterinary assistant that was holding the dog in place.  The veterinary assistant suffered a bloody nose and suffered unjustifiable physical pain to her head and neck.  A chihuahua dog was in a dog crate crying when Diaz punched the dog to make it stop crying.  A Shih Tzu dog was choked causing the dog to almost lose consciousness which caused the dog to suffer unjustifiable pain and suffering.  Diaz will be arraigned in Elmsford Village Court,15 S Stone Ave, Elmsford, NY today at 2 pm. “We are absolutely sickened by the abuse these animals suffered at the hands of Javier Diaz, DVM. Dr. Javier Diaz, 46, owned and operated the Main Street Animal Hospital in Elmsford, New York. On Friday, he was charged for allegedly abusing a litany of animals and falsifying vaccination records between April 9 and April 27. The doctor's alleged crimes were uncovered by a joint investigation carried out by the Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLEU) of SPCA Westchester alongside local detectives Paul Rescigno and Robert Caralyus, and with assistance from the Westchester District Attorney's Office, the Yonkers Times reported. Diaz stands accused of physically abusing pets left in his care on six occasions throughout last month. In one instance, he allegedly hit a kitten with canine nail clippers before shoving them in the animal's mouth, causing gum lacerations. Another time, a chihuahua dog was punched to make it stop crying while being kept in a crate. He also allegedly choked a Shih Tzu dog almost to the point of unconsciousness. A common theme among the other allegations was punching or kicking dogs, often in the ribs, and twisting their extremities, including wrists and ears. Each incident was reported to have caused the animals "to suffer unjustifiable pain and suffering," according to the Yonkers Times. Diaz was arraigned in the Elmsford Village Court Friday. He currently faces six counts of animal cruelty, one count of third-degree assault, and one count of second-degree forgery. Among the accusations of animal cruelty and abuse, Diaz was also accused of, on at least one occasion, falsifying vaccination documents. The doctor allegedly presented proof of vaccination to the owner of an animal and charged them for the service, but never actually administered the shot. The SPCA Westchester is now calling on members of the public to reach out if they believe their animal was harmed while in the veterinarian's care. A similar instance of severe animal abuse by a veterinarian was reported last October. Prentiss Madden of Miami, Florida, was sentenced to over 22 years in prison after it was found that he had been producing and sharing videos of himself sexually abusing dogs. Investigators also found thousands of images of child pornography in his possession.
