A betrayal of trust

It's just as we feared.

Yesterday, the Women's Health Protection Act, which would – at last – protect abortion rights across the country failed in the Senate, essentially criminalizing abortion for millions of people.

Every Republican voted against it.

An overwhelming majority of Americans support Roe v. Wade. In a democracy, we elect officials to carry out the will of the people.

And in a democracy, when those officials ignore the unmistakable will of the people, we vote them out.

The fight's not over – not by a long shot – but we're going to need everyone.

Midterm elections are more important than ever. It's no longer enough to elect a Democratic majority. We have to elect a pro-choice majority in both the House and the Senate. Chip in now to support a pro-choice majority in Congress!

The Hill: McConnell says national abortion ban 'possible'

If Republicans take back the majority, they've promised to go even further. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, as they seem ready to do, it could have consequences that extend to the right to privacy, contraception, to love who you chose, and even the right for students to attend desegregated schools.

Republicans don't care about what the people want. All they care about is power.

I promise to be in this fight for the American people. But we can't do it alone. We must build the biggest grassroots movement this country has ever seen to protect the right to bodily autonomy and so much else.

Will you join our grassroots movement and chip in today?

Jim
