Earlier this week, the Senate passed the Emmett Till Antilynching Act, which is now headed to President Biden’s desk for his signature.
This is an important step in our nations healing, one that has taken 122 years for us to achieve.
For decades, lawmakers and advocates have been pushing for this crucial legislation, only to be blocked by Jim Crow senators. The last time this legislation was blocked was just two years ago by none other than Rand Paul.
Yet now — as the historic bill finally passed with unanimous consent — Rand has the gall to applaud himself for not blocking it again.
Politicians like Rand would rather block anti-lynching legislation, spread lies about the 2020 election, and harm our LGBT children than make sure everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy, gainful life.
Our purpose — our work — is bigger than putting one man in one office or replacing one shameful politician.
Our work — and the work that Charles has led so many in — is to continue the work for justice, until everyone has the ability to safely jog in their neighborhood, peacefully sleep in their beds, lift their voices in pursuit of healing, and pursue their dreams in every corner of our country.
Our work is about coming together, from the Hood to the Holler. It’s about love, justice, community, and healing. And we would be honored if you’d join us..
Thank you,
Team Booker
