Your Signature is Needed: Liberty Mutual supporting Trans Mountain Pipeline

The Southern Resident Killer Whales have celebrated the birth of three healthy calves -- the best birthing results in over a decade. But the pod is at risk from the Trans Mountain Pipeline. Take action now.

The Trans Mountain Pipeline would ship more than 590,000 barrels per day of highly toxic tar sands oil through orca territory. It would increase oil tanker traffic, which disrupts the sonar that orcas rely on for food -- at a time when the pod is finally working toward recovery.

Pipelines like Trans Mountain needs insurance coverage -- without it they cannot be built, expanded, or operate. Liberty Mutual could be a leader in protecting endangered species like orcas, but instead they have refused to drop this Big Polluter.

If a tanker carrying tar sands from the Trans Mountain Pipeline has a spill, Southern Resident Killer Whales will be unable to detect and avoid it. Orcas would suck the toxic tar sands into their lungs -- leading to infections and death. The fumes alone are so potent it could knock out a full-grown whale -- causing them to drown. And the orcas that survive would struggle to find food as the salmon they depend on would be poisoned as well.

A major spill in the orcas’ habitat could mean their extinction.

Orcas are fighting for their lives, but Big Oil wants to increase pollution and industrial noise in the only habitat these creatures have. And Liberty Mutual is enabling this pollution by insuring the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

The Trans Mountain Pipeline is a ticking carbon bomb. Tar sands is one of the dirtiest, most carbon-intensive fuels on the planet. It is heavy, sinks in water, and is virtually impossible to clean up.

Thanks to activists like you, insurers are facing pressure to stop covering oil and gas pipelines. Many insurers have pulled their coverage. But Liberty Mutual is standing firm in its alignment with Big Oil -- including insuring the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

We need your help to stop this insurance giant from putting profits over the planet.

Tell Liberty Mutual to stop insuring Big Oil.

Standing with you,
