D.C. statehood is back on the table

 

Hi there,   Fantastic news for our country's future -- two new bills have been introduced in the House and Senate that would allow for Washington D.C. to finally become a state.   There's just one barrier between 700,000+ D.C. residents getting the representation in government they deserve: Mitch McConnell.   Why have McConnell and his fellow Republicans fought so hard to deny over half a million people the right to political representation? Because McConnell cares more about maintaining his power than giving Americans their constitutional rights. The GOP's unapologetic willingness to gatekeep participation in democracy is despicable, and it's time for it to end.   For statehood to become a reality, Democrats need to overcome McConnell's last stand -- the filibuster.
