I was deeply disappointed to see the Hyde Amendment included in the House Labor Health and Human Services funding bill last week.
Let me be clear, discriminatory abortion bans like the Hyde Amendment are blatantly racist and perpetuate systems of oppression and white supremacy that target people of color — especially Black and Brown people — and their bodily autonomy. Repealing the Hyde Amendment is a racial justice issue.
Will you add your name right now to urge members of the House of Representatives to vote to take Hyde out of this bill?
Add Your Name
For generations, the Hyde Amendment has restricted the constitutional right to safe and legal abortion care for millions — disproportionately impacting our most vulnerable, low-income, Black, Brown and Indigenous communities.
We know that women of color are frequently denied access to medical care across the board. Their pain is delegitimized and their lives devalued by a broken, for-profit health care system.
When I say it is time to legislate our values and write budgets that affirm the dignity and worth of Black and Brown lives, I mean it.
Add your name now to demand that the House of Representatives votes to remove the Hyde Amendment from this bill.
Thank you for joining me in the fight for justice,
Ayanna Pressley
